Job Overview

Amentum is seeking highly qualified and experienced aviation professionals for a dynamic and critical role as an Instructor Pilot (TH-1H) at Fort Rucker, Alabama. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the foundational training of the next generation of U.S. Air Force vertical-lift aviators.

The successful candidate will serve as an integral part of Amentum's team, working in close partnership with the U.S. Air Force's 23d Flying Training Squadron (FTS). The 23d FTS stands as the USAF's premier helicopter flying training unit, dedicated to preparing pilots for demanding missions across Combat Rescue, Special Operations, and Global Strike. Instructor Pilots will deliver comprehensive flight instruction, encompassing academics, simulations, and rigorous flight training for contact, instruments, and remote operations in the TH-1H Huey II helicopter.

This initiative highlights Amentum's commitment as a leading multi-service contractor, supporting vital Department of Defense mission-critical technical and management assignments in collaboration with the Air Force and Army, both domestically and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level flight instruction in TH-1H helicopter operations, covering academic, simulator, and in-flight environments.
• Conduct comprehensive training modules including contact, instrument, and remote operations flight phases.
• Ensure strict adherence to all U.S. Air Force flight regulations and safety protocols, upholding the program's exemplary safety record.
• Play a pivotal role in mentoring and developing U.S. Air Force vertical-lift pilots, preparing them for complex and challenging operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Must have previously qualified as a U.S. Air Force helicopter instructor pilot. (CV-22 pilots who attended SUPT-H or UHT are qualified.)
• Must have been current in U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) military aircraft within the previous four (4) years, or within the previous six (6) years if the candidate possesses eleven (11) years of DOD military operational flying duty.
• A minimum of 1,000 hours of total DOD military helicopter flight time is required.
• A minimum of 200 hours of DOD military helicopter instructor flight time is required.
• Demonstrated comprehensive working knowledge of all U.S. Air Force flight regulations.
• Possession of a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate is mandatory prior to commencing Pilot Instructor Training (PIT).
• Candidates must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
• Ability to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) is required.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and be able to provide verifiable proof of such authorization.

Additional Conditions of Employment

Applicants selected for this position are subject to Government approval and the terms of a 12-month Employee Training Agreement. Successful candidates will be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check. Furthermore, completion of required training and a successful government acceptance checkride are mandatory.
