Instructor Pilot

Amentum is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Instructor Pilot at the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Rucker, Alabama. This role involves instructing undergraduate student pilots in all aspects of helicopter flight, from aviation theory and simulator instruction to actual flight training, preparing them for challenging combat scenarios. The instructor will play a crucial role in a comprehensive program that trains approximately 1,000 graduates annually. Safety is paramount, and the program boasts an exceptional safety record.

The successful candidate will provide instruction primarily in the UH-72. Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct undergraduate student pilots in helicopter flight operations.
  • Provide classroom instruction in aviation theory.
  • Conduct simulator training.
  • Lead actual flight training exercises.
  • Emphasize safety in all aspects of training.
  • Develop student pilot leadership skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Possession of an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, or graduation from any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours of total flight time as pilot-in-command or second in command (per FAR 61.51); as Pilot in Command (PC) or Pilot (PI) (Per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category.
  • A combination of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
  • Experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
  • Minimum of 75 hours of night flying time.
  • Minimum of 500 hours of instructor time.
  • A current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to beginning MOI training.
  • Must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
  • Successful completion of a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Applicants for employment are subject to Government approval and the terms of a 12 month Employee Training Agreement. Applicants selected for hire will be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check and must complete training and a government acceptance checkride.
