First Officer (Pilot Second in Command)

Amentum invites applications for the position of First Officer (Pilot Second in Command) based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The position eliminates concerns about crash pads, airport downtime, or unpaid deadheading hours. Compensation is based on a balanced workload shared equitably among all pilots, featuring a flat salary structure that removes the need to bid for schedules or chase flight hours for income stability. The role falls under a Collective Bargaining Agreement providing a 12-step pay scale, paid bi-weekly, for both Captains and First Officers. First Officer base salaries for the initial three years are currently structured at $101K, $135K, and $149K, supplemented by a company direct contribution to the 401K, projected at 14% by 2026. New hires are granted four weeks of Personal Time Off (PTO) annually, with provisions for carryover and payout, commencing on the first day of employment. Full pay is provided during training, and there is no training contract requirement.
Purpose and Scope:
The First Officer serves as the Pilot Second in Command (SIC) of B737-600NG aircraft, contributing to safe and efficient flight operations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Pilots the aircraft for the transportation of passengers and cargo.
- Assists the Pilot in Command (PIC) and assuming command should the PIC become incapacitated.
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of passengers, crew, cargo, and the aircraft.
- Compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and Air Traffic Control (ATC) directives is mandatory.
- Manipulates aircraft controls as pilot flying (PF) and executing specified duties as pilot monitoring (PM) during flight operations.
- Prior to flight, reviews maintenance logs, planned routes, weather reports and forecasts, Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs), and pilot information files (PIFs).
- Maintains familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), the Airman’s Information Manual (AIM), the aircraft manufacturer’s Flight Crew Operations Manual (FCOM), Flight Crew Training Manual (FCTM) and Quick Reaction Handbook (QRH), the Customer’s Site Procedures Manual (SPM), and the Company’s Flight Operations Manual (FOM).
- Computes aircraft weight and balance and takeoff/landing data.
- Performance of other position-related duties as assigned or requested is also required.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Must possess a current US DOT/FAA First Class Medical Certificate (with EKG if over 39 years old).
- A US DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with a B737 Type rating and no restrictions is mandatory.
- A current US DOD TS/SCI security clearance is required.
- Applicants must hold a current US DHS/TSA LAS airport badge.
- Possession of a current US Passport or valid US Birth Certificate and a current US state-issued Driver’s License is necessary.
- The First Officer must comply with all US DOT 14 CFR requirements for pilots, specifically Parts 60, 61, 67, 117, 120, and 121, including the age 65 limit, as amended by the Customer.
- A minimum of 1,500 total in-seat hours as a crewmember in fixed-wing powered aircraft is required.
- The First Officer must maintain training and checking currency as required by Company policy and 14 CFR Part 121, as amended by the Customer.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
The primary work environment is the cockpit of a jet aircraft, characterized by a small, confined space subject to high noise levels, temperature extremes, and low humidity. Controls, switches, and instruments are positioned for ease of use and monitoring. The position may involve exposure to physical and mental stress arising from in-flight emergencies, inclement weather, high noise levels, vibration/turbulence or other environmental discomforts, and visual/audio/tactile sensory bombardment. The work is primarily sedentary, involving some walking, bending, stretching, climbing, and manipulating controls from a sitting position.
