First Officer - B737
This position offers the exciting opportunity to pilot a B737 aircraft, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of passengers and cargo. As a vital member of the flight crew, the First Officer acts as Second in Command, prepared to assume command should the Pilot in Command become incapacitated.
Responsibilities:
- Pilots B737 aircraft, transporting passengers and cargo.
- Serves as Second in Command, taking over flight operations if necessary.
- Diligently monitors all flight aspects and aircraft systems to guarantee safety and standard operating procedures.
- Maintains clear communication with Air Traffic Control using professional aviation terminology.
- Conducts thorough reviews of maintenance logs, weather reports and forecasts, and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs).
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of:
- Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
- Airman Information Manual (AIM)
- Company Flight Operations Manual (FOM)
- Aircraft manufacturer Flight Crew Operations Manual (FCOM)
- Flight Crew Training Manual (FCTM)
- Quick Reference Handbook (QRH)
- Accurately computes Performance Data, Weight, and Balance of the aircraft.
Work Environment:
The role primarily takes place within the B737 cockpit, a confined environment characterized by high noise levels, fluctuating temperatures, and low humidity.
Physical and Mental Demands:
This position requires a high degree of physical and mental resilience. First Officers may encounter stressful situations such as in-flight emergencies, challenging weather conditions, noise exposure, and other environmental factors.
The role necessitates:
- Extended periods of sitting with occasional walking, bending, stretching, climbing, and manipulating controls.
- A minimum of 40 pounds of arm/shoulder strength to operate the steering wheel, 100 pounds to manage the yoke, and 130 pounds of leg strength to operate rudder pedals.
- Lifting, extending, and positioning up to 30 pounds utilizing various arm and shoulder movements.
- 20/20 corrected vision (near, mid, and far ranges) with full color recognition.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, in a noisy environment.
- The mental fortitude to compartmentalize personal stress and maintain unwavering focus on flight operations.
- Rapid and accurate mathematical calculations under pressure.
- Exceptional memory for checklists and procedures.
- Superior situational awareness, encompassing the aircraft's position, attitude, and configuration, even amidst multiple sensory inputs.
- Critical thinking skills for evaluating scenarios and selecting the safest and most effective course of action.
- The ability to remain calm and decisive during high-pressure situations, such as mechanical failures, severe weather, low fuel, loss of pressurization, fire, control issues, and potential collisions.
Minimum Requirements:
- US DOT/FAA First Class Medical Certificate (with EKG if over 39 years old)
- US DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate (ATP) or eligibility to complete an ATP Certification Training Program (CTP) in conjunction with a B737 Type course.
- 3,000 total flight hours (crewed and/or general aviation) or 1,500 total hours on high-performance, single-pilot military aircraft (discounted at 2:1).
- Only fixed-wing, in-seat pilot hours are considered (excludes simulator, helicopter, WSO, RIO, FE, NAV, EWO, and UAV time).
- Hours must adhere to FAA regulations; no military conversion permitted.
- Ability to obtain a US DOD TS/SCI security clearance (US citizenship required).
- Valid US state-issued Driver's License.
- Current US Passport or valid US Birth Certificate.
- Willingness to reside in the Las Vegas, Nevada metropolitan area (no commute option).
- Compliance with all 14 CFR Part 121 requirements for pilots, including being under 65 years of age with a minimum of 2 years of flight eligibility remaining from the date of hire (effective age on the hire date must be less than 63).
Preferred Capabilities:
- Active US DoD TS security clearance under "continuous evaluation" or with at least one year until the next investigation.
- US DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with Airplane Multi-Engine Land (AMEL) rating.
- US DOT/FAA B737 Type rating.
- Current residency in the Las Vegas, Nevada metropolitan area.
- Active flying experience within a company with a certificated aviation program or the military.
- Piloting experience with Large (or larger) category or high-performance military aircraft.
- Familiarity with modern avionics (glass cockpit).
- Electronic flight bag (EFB) experience.
