Inflight Base Supervisor
Overview
The Inflight Base Supervisor is a pivotal full-time, on-site role responsible for the comprehensive oversight of Inflight operations within their assigned crew domicile(s). This position ensures the highest standards of operational excellence, safety, and customer service are consistently met by the Inflight Department. The Supervisor leads and manages Flight Attendants, fostering a culture of accountability, regulatory compliance, and performance excellence within a dynamic airport environment. This role involves day-to-day operational management, responding to irregular operations, and implementing strategies to achieve optimal on-time performance and safety for Flight Attendants, with a strong emphasis on company principles and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads and coaches Flight Attendants to achieve and surpass performance expectations, including conducting regular observation flights, ramp checks, and effectively communicating customer experience metrics.
- Manages day-to-day operational activities and proactively responds to irregular operations, implementing strategic initiatives to enhance on-time performance and uphold the safety of Flight Attendants.
- Conducts thorough fact-finding and investigation meetings, ensuring timely and accurate grievance processes.
- Participates in the hiring and termination of Flight Attendants as necessary, and adeptly manages conflict resolution to cultivate a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Promotes a robust safety-first culture, ensuring strict adherence to all regulatory and company standards, conducting investigations, and maintaining precise employment records.
- Executes daily, weekly, and monthly operational plans, ensuring seamless operations during irregular schedules and flight interruptions, which includes availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams to investigate delays, improve on-time performance, and support initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall customer experience.
- Analyzes base and department performance metrics to guide strategic decisions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Serves as a key company and department representative and liaison at the local level for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Takes ownership of special projects designed to enhance departmental operational effectiveness and employee engagement.
- Ensures all direct reports understand and apply customer commitment and service standards appropriately.
- Maintains accurate and confidential employment files for Flight Attendants.
- Interprets contract language as it pertains to daily operational requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
A combination of education and experience will be considered. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986 and successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Education: Associate's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Flight Attendant.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience managing people.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience managing in a union environment.
- Licensing & Certifications: Possesses a valid/unexpired Passport Book and a valid/unexpired Driver's License. Must successfully pass company Flight Attendant Training and maintain currency.
- Language Proficiency: Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently to receive and understand instructions, directives, ensure safety, and interact effectively with customers.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Products.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Abilities:
- Ability and willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a dispersed workforce and handle a large internal and external client base.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Aptitude for handling conflict management with ease and comfort, while establishing rapport and achieving positive results.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Physical Requirements
The Inflight Base Supervisor role primarily involves working in an office environment. This includes regular standing, sitting, talking, hearing, seeing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and using hands and fingers for computer and phone operations. The position may require lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 20 lbs. Flexibility to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour operational environment is essential. Regular attendance is a fundamental requirement. The role involves exposure to moderate noise levels (typical office environment), and temperature/light fluctuations. Ability to work in confined areas and sit at a computer terminal for extended periods is necessary. Some travel may be required.
