Position Overview
ATI is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to report directly to the President of ATI. The COO is responsible for establishing high standards, defining the company's business strategy, and overseeing its execution through the Vice Presidents of Flight and Technical Operations. This critical role ensures the airline's day-to-day operations are conducted safely, compliantly, reliably, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the airline, ensuring effective communication and coordination among operational departments to facilitate safe, profitable, and cost-competitive operations.
- Keep the President and the leadership team informed of significant events impacting the airline.
- Manage and report on safety measures, operating costs, and performance against established work plans and budgets.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain continuous improvement and cost reduction processes to ensure the safe and efficient utilization of resources.
- Contribute to the development of the overall strategic direction and business plan of the company.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of experience leading airline technical organizations, demonstrating expertise in team building, talent development, and the execution of business strategies within fast-paced, multi-tasking environments.
- Proven ability to achieve results through high-performing teams with a strong emphasis on safety, goal attainment, accountability, effective communication, and comprehensive business knowledge.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking capabilities and diagnostic competence in financial and analytical domains.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility.
- Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective interaction with all stakeholders, including employees, customers, and shareholders.
- Proficiency in written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills, essential for effective communication, updates, persuasion, and facilitation of discussions across all organizational levels, with management, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA is preferred.
- Computer proficiency necessary for strategy development, analysis, project management, and communication.
- Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 121 operations.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Willingness to travel as required to meet business needs.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- A&P certification, Pilot qualifications, Engineering background, or a significant leadership role in airline operations.
- Master's degree.
- Experience in closely related industries such as scheduled air carriers, air cargo, aircraft maintenance, aviation engineering, or similar operational environments.
- Experience in international flight or maintenance line operations.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of senior or executive-level management experience.
