Job Summary

Advanced Air, LLC is seeking a qualified Second in Command (SIC) for a turbo-prop King Air 350, based in Phoenix, Arizona. This role requires a strong ability to multitask, make high-level complex decisions, and execute a variety of aviation-related tasks. The SIC will primarily support Advanced Air's Essential Air Service communities and on-demand charter operations, ensuring a world-class experience for all travelers while upholding the company's rigorous flight operations standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in all phases of flight according to operating policies and procedures.
  • Perform visual pre-flight and post-flight aircraft inspections.
  • Assume primary responsibility for the safety of passengers, crew, cargo, and the aircraft in the event of PIC incapacitation.
  • Oversee and execute customer service aspects of each flight leg as per the company's procedures manual, including passenger coordination, refueling, customs, hangar logistics, and catering.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Company Operations Manuals, Operations Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, and Company Policies.
  • Complete all required ground and flight training curriculum segments, including aircraft-specific training and maneuver proficiency checks.
  • Maintain accurate flight and duty records, determine flight assignment eligibility, and report aircraft maintenance discrepancies to the Captain.
  • Proactively participate in safety and quality systems by identifying, reporting, and mitigating hazards and quality issues.
  • Provide timely input to management and utilize systems processes to address quality and safety concerns.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned by the PIC, Chief Pilot, or higher authority.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1100 hours total flight time.
  • 500 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
  • 50 hours multi-engine fixed-wing flight time.
  • Commercial Airplane Multi Engine Land rating.
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time.
  • 100 hours nighttime flight time.
  • 75 hours instrument flight time, with 50 of those in actual flight.
  • CFI, CFII, MEI Certificates are preferred but not required.
  • Successfully passed an oral/written exam administered by an FAA-approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman or a representative of the Administrator within the preceding 12 calendar months, as required by FAR 135.293(a).
  • Successfully completed a competency check administered in the type of airplane within the preceding 12 calendar months, conducted by an FAA-approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman or an FAA Inspector, as required by FAR 135.293(b).
  • Completed the 6-month IFR proficiency check given by an FAA inspector or an FAA-approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman (FAR 135.297).
  • Demonstrated en route, arrival, and departure procedures by completing an en route check (FAR 135.299) with an FAA inspector or an FAA-approved Advanced Air, LLC Check Airman.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures.
  • Demonstrated customer/client focus.
  • Proven ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to pass FAA drug/alcohol screening, background checks, and submit to random drug tests.
  • Maintain a current medical certificate as required by the company.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to manipulate, push, pull, and lift heavy objects over 150 lbs.
  • Ability to climb onto and off an airplane wing.
  • Digital dexterity for aircraft pre-flight and post-flight procedures.
  • Ability to execute flights of up to 4.5 hours, with a total flight time of up to 10 hours per day within a 14-hour duty period.
  • Possession of a current U.S. Passport with at least 6 months validity remaining throughout the employment period.

Compensation and Schedule

  • Salary: $55,000.00 per year.
  • A 12-month training contract is required upon completion of initial training.
  • Flight crews will work a mixed schedule of Days ON and Days OFF, providing approximately 10 days off per month.
  • Flight crews average 15 flying days per month and typically spend 8 to 12 nights away from base.
  • Pilots bid days off based on seniority, typically 14 days in advance.
  • There are 13 schedule periods in a calendar year.
  • On "On" days, flight crews must be available for work.
  • On days without assigned flying, a set On-Call period will be in effect, requiring flight crew to be within approximately two hours of the airport and fit to fly.
  • On Days Off, pilots are not expected to be available for Advanced Air.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role involves physical demands consistent with aviation operations, including stooping, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting (minimum 50 lbs.), and operating machinery with repetitive motions. The work environment includes outdoor work in various weather conditions, potential exposure to loud noise significant enough to cause distraction or hearing loss, and exposure to fumes, dust, and other environmental factors associated with airfield operations.
