Waste Connections has an immediate opening for an aircraft Captain. The Captain reports to the Flight Department Manager and is responsible for the safety of our passengers, other crew members and the aircraft. Before each flight, the Captain, along with the Co-Pilot and the Flight Coordinator will oversee flight planning that includes but is not limited to fuel planning, weight and balance and performance planning, route, weather and alternate requirements. In addition the Captain will adhere to company standards and procedures while also complying with any and all FAA regulations and/or the regulations dictated by any country in which we operate. The Captain is also the flight department Safety Officer and is expected to contribute to and continue the success that has allowed the Waste Connections Flight Department to hold an IS-BAO Stage 3 Safety Certification. Depending on the experience level of the candidate, they may qualify and be considered for either a Senior Captain or Chief Pilot position.

We are looking for a candidate with a “can do” service attitude, working within a “fit for flight” culture. Additionally, the candidate will need to reside within a 90 minute drive from the IAH airport. The Candidate must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, as well as flight department experience that ideally includes the following disciplines:

  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Falcon 900EX EASy/DX/LX Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, Management, Aeronautics or Engineering or has equivalent compensatory experience
  • Hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate in multi-engine land airplanes
  • Have a minimum of 3500 Hours Total Time, 2000 Hours PIC and 1000 Hours Turbine Time
  • Must hold and maintain a current FAA 1st Class Medical Certificate
  • Have a minimum 2 years’ experience as line captain in large, multi-engine jet aircraft operations
  • Demonstrate knowledge with respect to the operation of a flight department, the content of the Company Flight Department Manuals, and the provision of the regulations and the standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position;

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND AUTHORITY

  • Responsibilities delegated by the Flight Department Manager
  • Flies company aircraft as Captain/ PIC and First Officer/ SIC
  • Flight Operations Management
  • Exercise Company Operational Control when delegated by the Flight Department Manager
  • Developing standard operating procedures meeting all regulatory guidance
  • Controlling operational policies and standards of all aircraft operated
  • Ensuring that all airports and routes served by Waste Connections are operationally suitable and meet company requirements
  • Taking action on and distributing accident, incident, and other occurrence reports
  • Processing and taking action on any flight crew reports
  • Maintain a current aircraft and operations library
  • Disseminating information pertaining to flights and Company policies
  • Receiving and taking action with respect to any aeronautical information affecting the safety of flight
