Flight Attendant

Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
- Must be able to speak clearly and concisely, projecting voice effectively in emergency situations.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding) is mandatory.
- Fluency in Hebrew (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding) is mandatory.
- Possess the ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies, and severe weather.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ear. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not exceed the size of a credit card or be covered with standard uniform pieces, and must not be offensive.
- Decorative covers, adornments and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for task completion.
- Possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining. Must be able to travel to all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (luggage to overhead bin or window exit), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
- Pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach, without shoes.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) diligently and professionally.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting United's 24/7 operation.
- Successfully complete an evacuation drill in water during training.
- Pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited.
- Pass a 10-year background check that does not prohibit travel to any United destination.
Training:
New Flight Attendants will participate in a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, focusing on United's safety and customer service standards. United provides a $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training. Upon successful completion of training, Flight Attendants will be assigned to one of United's hub locations (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles) or another flight attendant base location.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.
