Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college education preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service-related industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Must possess the ability to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, capable of being heard in an emergency situation.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding) is mandatory.
- Fluency in Italian (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding) is mandatory.
- Must be able to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to excellent grooming standards and uniform guidelines (including hair, tattoo, and piercing policies).
- Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must adhere to size and content restrictions.
- Decorative covers, adornments, and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are prohibited.
- Proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for task completion.
- Possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining prior to its expiration.
- Maintain the ability to travel to and from all countries served by United Airlines without restrictions.
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (such as luggage), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach without shoes.
- Must be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) in a professional manner.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting United's 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in the water (pool) during training is required.
- Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history, that does not prohibit travel to or from anywhere United flies.
Benefits:
United Airlines offers a competitive compensation package, including a starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with top of base scale at $67.11 per hour. The position includes seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. New Flight Attendants will participate in a 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, to learn United's safety and customer service standards. United Airlines provides a $140/week per diem, along with accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training. Upon successful completion of training, graduates will be assigned to one of seven hub locations: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or one of our other flight attendant base locations (relocation funds not provided). A $1,000 bonus is offered upon successful training completion.
