Flight Attendant

- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security on board the aircraft.

- Engage directly with customers, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve issues with understanding and compassion.
- Represent United Airlines with pride and distinction, fostering customer loyalty through exceptional service.
- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) in a diligent and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Must be able to speak clearly and concisely in English, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Must be able to read and speak Italian fluently.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, and severe weather conditions.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to grooming standards, uniform guidelines, and tattoo/piercing policies.
- Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear) and must adhere to specific size and content restrictions if visible on arms, wrists, legs, or feet.
- Decorative covers, adornments, and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for task completion.
- Possession of a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining prior to its expiration.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions. Applicants are responsible for identifying and verifying travel eligibility.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (such as luggage), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and irregular hours.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water (pool) during training.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, and fingerprinting.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited.
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
Compensation and Benefits:
United Airlines offers a competitive compensation package, including a starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with top of base scale at $67.11 per hour, seniority-based pay increases, and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. Benefits include:

Training:
New Flight Attendants will participate in a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, focusing on United's safety and customer service standards. United provides a $140/week per diem, along with accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training. A $1,000 bonus will be provided for successful training graduates. Upon successful completion, Flight Attendants will be assigned to one of United's hub locations or other flight attendant base locations.
