About the Role

TUI Airways and TUIFly Nordic seeks an experienced Flight Crew Training Team Leader to join its Crew Planning department. This critical role is responsible for the comprehensive management and execution of training programs for all flight crew operating under the TUI Airways & TUIFly Nordic AOC. The successful candidate will lead a shift-based training team, ensuring all operational training requirements, including those for cabin crew, are met up to the day of operation. Accountability extends across the entire training lifecycle, from initial planning and documentation of all flight and cabin crew training activities to operational delivery. A key aspect of this position is ensuring strict adherence to all industry regulations, legislation, and industrial agreements, thereby maintaining the highest standards of compliance and operational excellence.

This is a non-shift position, operating Monday to Friday. TUI Airways & TUIFly Nordic embraces a hybrid working model, with a minimum requirement of three days per week onsite at the Luton office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, engage, and develop the Flight Crew Training Team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth to achieve high performance standards.
  • Provide comprehensive briefings and updates to Flight Operations Leadership, including Crew Training Nominated Persons and Pilot/Cabin Crew Management, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
  • Oversee the effective rostering, operational delivery, and comprehensive documentation of all flight crew training requirements, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory standards, collective agreements, and company policies. This includes monthly KPI reviews to identify and address areas for improvement.
  • Manage the delivery of all crew training requirements to operational crew, ensuring strict adherence to budgetary constraints, financial targets, and regulatory compliance, including audit considerations.
  • Collaborate closely with Crew Planning Managers to promote an integrated and cohesive approach to the Training Plan, enhancing operational flexibility and implementing cost-saving initiatives through detailed process analysis.
  • Proactively engage with key stakeholders across the business to deliver a customer-centric service that meets all operational needs and elevates overall service delivery.
  • Address flight crew queries and feedback promptly, actively participating in forums to provide balanced guidance and support while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and crew planning deliverables.
  • Attend and support Trade Union meetings as required to discuss flight crew training matters, building robust relationships with union representatives to anticipate needs and facilitate agreements that enhance crew productivity.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels, providing guidance materials and training packages to improve understanding of crew training processes and requirements within the team.
  • Deliver feedback, training, and support to champion a service culture within Crew Planning and optimize team performance.

  • Possesses excellent leadership experience with a proven ability to coach and develop a team.
  • Demonstrates the capacity to operate effectively within a virtual airline environment, managing multiple customers and stakeholders across the Northern Region.
  • A skilled communicator with a proven ability to influence and partner with senior leaders, and secure support and commitment from line managers and employees across the business.
  • Proven ability to utilize analytical tools to enhance roster quality and understands the impact of roster quality on safety.
  • Exhibits stress resilience and thrives on solving problems under time pressure.
  • Possesses commercial and strategic thinking capabilities, while ensuring safety objectives and full regulatory compliance are achieved and maintained.
