About the Role
The Flight Crew Training Team Leader plays a critical role within the Crew Planning team, responsible for the comprehensive scheduling and execution of training programs for all flight crew operating under the TUI Airways and TUIFly Nordic Air Operator's Certificates (AOCs). This position involves managing a shift-based training team dedicated to fulfilling all operational training requirements, including those for cabin crew up to the day of operation. The successful candidate will be accountable for the entire training lifecycle, from initial planning through to operational delivery and the documentation of all flight crew and cabin crew training activities. A key responsibility includes ensuring strict adherence to industry regulations, legislation, and industrial agreements, upholding the highest standards of compliance and operational excellence.
This is a non-shift role, operating Monday to Friday. A hybrid working model is available, requiring a minimum of three days per week onsite at our Luton office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, engage, and develop the Flight Crew Training Team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth to achieve high performance standards.
- Provide comprehensive briefs and updates to Flight Operations Leadership, including Crew Training Nominated Persons and Pilot/Cabin Crew Management, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
- Oversee the effective rostering, operational delivery, and documentation of all flight crew training requirements, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory compliance, collective agreements, and company standards, with monthly KPI reviews to identify areas for improvement.
- Manage the delivery of all crew training requirements to operational crew, ensuring compliance with budgetary restrictions, financial targets, and regulatory requirements, including audit considerations.
- Collaborate closely with Crew Planning Managers to ensure an integrated and effective approach to the Training Plan, promoting operational flexibility and implementing cost-saving initiatives through process analysis and improvement.
- Proactively liaise and collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to deliver a customer-centric service that meets all operational needs and enhances overall service delivery.
- Promptly respond to flight crew queries and feedback, actively participating in forums to provide balanced guidance and support while maintaining a focus on customer service and crew planning deliverables.
- Attend and support Trade Union meetings as required to discuss flight crew training matters, building strong relationships with representatives to facilitate agreements that enhance crew productivity.
- Establish effective communication channels, provide guidance materials, and develop training packages to enhance understanding of crew training processes and requirements within the team.
- Deliver feedback, training, and guidance to champion a service culture within Crew Planning and optimize team performance.
About You
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrable leadership experience with a strong ability to coach and develop teams.
- Experience operating within a virtual airline environment with multiple customers and stakeholders across the Northern Region.
- Skilled communicator with a proven ability to influence and partner senior leaders, gaining support and commitment from line managers and employees.
- Proficiency in employing analytical tools to improve roster quality and a clear understanding of the impact of roster quality on safety.
- Ability to remain resilient under pressure and find energy in solving problems within time constraints.
- Commercial and strategic thinking capabilities, with a commitment to achieving and maintaining safety objectives and full regulatory compliance.
- A self-motivated leader who takes initiative and works collaboratively, with a track record of motivating and developing teams.
