The Opportunity
TC Energy's expanding Aviation team is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aviation Pilot to serve as Captain on corporate jet aircraft. This pivotal role is primarily based at TC Energy’s Aviation Hangar in Calgary, Alberta, and includes responsibilities for providing part-time coverage and relief for operations in the Houston office. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of company aircraft under CARs 604 and FAR Part 91 Flight Rules.
Key Responsibilities
The Aviation Pilot / Corporate Jet Captain will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Serving as Pilot in Command (PIC) for the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft, adhering strictly to CARs 604 and FAR Part 91 Flight Rules.
- Managing all aspects of assigned flights to ensure safe, effective, and efficient execution.
- Performing duties alternately as Pilot Flying or Pilot Monitoring.
- Conducting comprehensive risk assessments to uphold the highest standards of flight safety.
- Maintaining current knowledge of all applicable aviation policies, procedures, regulations, Safety Management System (SMS) protocols, and company standards.
- Ensuring appropriate security measures for aircraft when operating away from the home base.
- Accurately recording aircraft discrepancies for maintenance corrective action and meticulously maintaining flight logs.
- Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the Operations Manual, International Operations guidelines, SMS, IS-BAO best practices, and checklist philosophy.
- Maintaining an in-depth systems and operational knowledge of assigned aircraft types.
- Demonstrating a full understanding of flight planning requirements for both domestic and international destinations.
- Executing thorough arrival and departure preparations.
- Verifying aircraft airworthiness, proper equipment, and operation within prescribed weight and balance limitations.
- Performing essential non-flying duties, including completing logbooks and administrative paperwork, arranging crew accommodations and transportation, fuel and logistics planning, baggage handling, and managing catering and cabin services.
- Exhibiting excellent communication skills, tact, and decorum in all interactions.
- Strictly adhering to company privacy and non-disclosure policies concerning passenger business discussions and company operations.
- Maintaining a professional image that positively reflects TC Energy.
- Providing leadership for functional teams and projects within the Aviation Department.
- Performing additional ancillary duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot.
Minimum Qualifications
Prospective candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- High school graduate is required; a diploma or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License is mandatory. Preference will be given to applicants holding both Canadian and FAA Airline Transport Licenses.
- Must hold and be able to maintain a current First Class Medical Certificate.
- A minimum of 10 years of flying experience, with corporate aviation experience highly preferred.
- A minimum of 5,000 hours of total flight time and 3,000 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) time.
- A minimum of 1,000 hours of jet experience.
- Extensive international flying experience is required.
- Possession of a valid Canadian Passport.
- Possession of a valid FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Ability to meet ICAO international requirements.
Additional Requirements and Conditions
This position demands candidates who:
- Possess current, valid authorization to travel internationally, including but not limited to Canada, the U.S., and Mexico.
- Are able to successfully complete pre-employment medical screening, including comprehensive drug and alcohol testing.
- Can successfully pass background security and criminal record checks, and qualify for an Airport Security Pass (RAIC).
- Are willing and able to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training.
- Are prepared to work irregular hours in an on-demand/unscheduled operational environment as required.
