Job Summary
TC Energy, a premier North American energy infrastructure company, seeks a determined, imaginative, and curious Aviation Pilot to join its dynamic Aviation team. This position supports the company’s mission of transitioning North America to cleaner energy while meeting current and future energy demands. The successful candidate will be based at the TC Energy Aviation Hangar in Calgary, Alberta, with requirements for part-time coverage for Houston-based operations.
This role requires an experienced professional to serve as Captain on the corporate jet, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Company aircraft under CARs 604 and FAR Part 91 Flight Rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving as Pilot in Command, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft.
- Managing all aspects of the flight to ensure each trip is conducted safely, effectively, and efficiently.
- Performing duties as either Pilot Flying or Pilot Monitoring.
- Evaluating all risk factors to maintain the highest possible degree of safety.
- Maintaining current knowledge of new policies, procedures, regulations, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and company standards.
- Arranging for the security of the aircraft when away from the home base.
- Recording aircraft discrepancies for maintenance corrective action and meticulously maintaining flight logs.
- Adhering strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the Operations Manual, International Operations procedures, SMS, IS-BAO best practices, and checklist philosophy.
- Maintaining thorough systems and operational knowledge of the assigned aircraft.
- Demonstrating a full understanding of flight planning requirements for both domestic and international destinations.
- Performing comprehensive arrival and departure preparations.
- Ensuring the aircraft is airworthy, properly equipped, and operated within all weight and balance limitations.
- Executing non-flying duties, including completing logbooks and paperwork, and coordinating hotels, crew transportation, fuel, logistics, baggage handling, catering, and cabin services.
- Exhibiting excellent communication skills and acting with professional tact and decorum.
- Upholding company privacy and non-disclosure policies regarding passenger business discussions and company operations.
- Maintaining a professional image that positively reflects TC Energy.
- Providing leadership to functional teams and projects within the Aviation Department.
- Performing other ancillary duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate required; a diploma or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- A valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) is mandatory. Preference will be given to applicants holding both Canadian and FAA Airline Transport licenses.
- A current and maintainable First Class Medical certificate.
- A minimum of 10 years of flying experience, with corporate experience preferred.
- A minimum of 5,000 hours total flight time.
- A minimum of 3,000 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) time.
- A minimum of 1,000 hours of jet experience.
- Demonstrated international flying experience is required.
- A valid Canadian Passport and a valid FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Must meet all ICAO international requirements.
Conditions of Employment
- Must possess current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, the US, and Mexico).
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Must successfully pass a background security and criminal record check to qualify for an Airport Security Pass (RAIC).
- Willingness to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training.
- Ability to work irregular hours as required in an on-demand, unscheduled flight operation.
- Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the country in which the position is based with no restrictions.
