Adjunct Instructor – Avionics Manufacturing
The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), a leading institution in applied education and a recognized Alberta Top Employer, seeks a highly motivated and experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to join its Corporate Development, Applied Research and International (CDARI) division as an Adjunct Instructor for its Avionics Manufacturing program. CDARI serves as SAIT's primary liaison with industry, developing and delivering customized training programs that meet evolving employer needs. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of avionics education and contribute to the success of a dynamic, collaborative team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive course outlines, learning profiles, and curriculum for avionics manufacturing.
- Deliver engaging, high-level technology instruction to adult learners in both online and in-person formats.
- Create and curate supplementary digital learning materials for theoretical courses.
- Actively participate in curriculum and program reviews to ensure ongoing relevance and quality.
- Prepare and provide learners with comprehensive supplementary study and laboratory materials.
- Evaluate student progress and achievements using appropriate assessment methods.
- Provide consistent support, guidance, and mentorship to learners throughout the course.
- Maintain strong relationships with relevant industry sectors to ensure curriculum alignment and relevance.
- Pursue continuous professional development, enhancing both technical expertise and instructional skills.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment through effective collaboration with colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Transport Canada AME, E license is mandatory.
- Minimum of a two-year Avionics Technology diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Excellent communication skills, encompassing written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrated innovative mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to maintain a firm yet empathetic approach in addressing important issues, balancing the needs of learners and the team.
- Prior teaching experience is a valuable asset, but not required.
- Intermediate proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet software, relevant industry-specific software, and multimedia presentation tools.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Exceptional customer service orientation and strong relationship-building skills.
