Flight Instructor
FlightSafety International, the world’s premier professional aviation training company, seeks a highly motivated Flight Instructor. This individual will deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles. The Instructor will contribute to the training of pilots, technicians, and other aviation professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support training delivery to meet client needs, aligning with the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress and provide recommendations for qualification or additional training.
- Complete accurate training records specific to each client, facilitating their success in achieving training objectives.
- Identify client training issues and seek assistance proactively.
- Maintain Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
- Participation in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program is mandatory.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
- In the absence of an ATP, candidates must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is necessary.
- Preferred experience includes FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
- A preferred minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices is essential.
- Familiarity with common aviation regulations is required.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classes and teach is necessary.
- Possession of first-level facilitation and customer service skills is expected.
- A willingness to be coachable and receive feedback to support professional development is crucial.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The role requires the regular use of hands for various tasks, including handling objects and operating controls, as well as the ability to talk and hear. The employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and taste or smell.
The employee must possess the physical range of motion to:
- Reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque pedals.
- Reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator from the instructor's chair.
- Enter and exit the simulator via the provided ramp.
- Move between the instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom.
- Exit from a malfunctioning simulator in a severely pitched attitude.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and may work in high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration may occur.
