Flight Instructor
FlightSafety International, a global leader in professional aviation training and simulator technology, seeks a highly qualified Flight Instructor to deliver exceptional ground and simulator instruction. This role is pivotal in training pilots and aviation professionals in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety's rigorous training principles.
Responsibilities:
The Flight Instructor will conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses. This includes developing and preparing training materials aligned with the applicable curriculum to meet diverse client needs. The Instructor will meticulously evaluate and measure trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or further training. Accurate training records will be maintained for each client, ensuring the successful achievement of their training objectives. The Instructor proactively identifies and addresses client training issues, seeking assistance when necessary. Maintaining Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements is also essential.
Minimum Experience:
Candidates must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program. A candidate must hold an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License. In the absence of an ATP, the candidate must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation. A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required. Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices, as well as common aviation regulations. The ability to manage classes and teach effectively is crucial, along with strong first-level facilitation and customer service skills. The candidate must be coachable and receptive to feedback to support ongoing development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires the regular use of hands for handling, reaching, and communication. The role involves standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and potentially tasting or smelling. The candidate must possess the physical ability to operate rudder controls, manipulate simulator controls from the instructor's chair, and enter/exit the simulator using the provided ramp. They must also be able to move between the instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing. The ability to exit a malfunctioning simulator in a severely pitched attitude is also required. Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment, are necessary. The candidate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment frequently includes proximity to moving mechanical parts, and may involve working in high, precarious places, outside conditions, and exposure to various environmental factors.
