Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor is responsible for providing exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering strictly to aviation regulations and the established training principles of FlightSafety International.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training sessions for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Develop and meticulously prepare training materials that effectively support the delivery of training, ensuring alignment with client needs and adherence to the relevant curriculum.
- Thoroughly evaluate and accurately measure trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or identifying requirements for additional training.
- Maintain precise and detailed training records for each client, facilitating their success in achieving specified objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training issues and seek appropriate assistance prior to the execution of training.
- Maintain all required instructor qualifications in strict compliance with regulatory standards.
Minimum Experience
- Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or an equivalent Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state.
- If an ATP is not held, must meet the requirements of:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64, with no Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating is mandatory.
- Preferred: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or equivalent military training programs.
- Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of prevailing aviation regulations.
- Exceptional ability to effectively manage classrooms and deliver compelling instruction.
- Proficiency in first-level facilitation skills.
- Strong first-level customer service skills.
- Demonstrates a willingness to be coached and actively receives feedback to support continued professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role requires the ability to regularly utilize hands for fingering, handling, or feeling objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The incumbent may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
Possess the physical range of body motion necessary to perform the following:
- Reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet.
- Reach and manipulate various controls within the Simulator from the Instructor’s chair.
- Enter and exit the Simulator via the provided ramp.
- Move efficiently between the Instructor station, screen, and podium during classroom instruction.
- Exit from a malfunctioning Simulator in a severely pitched attitude.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The employee may work in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, in high and precarious places, and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration may be experienced.
