Position Purpose:

The Flight Instructor is responsible for providing exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction that adheres to aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles. They contribute to the professional development of aviation personnel, ensuring the highest standards of competency and safety.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
  • Develop and prepare high-quality training materials that effectively support training delivery and meet the specific needs of each client, in accordance with established curriculum.
  • Thoroughly evaluate and measure trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional training as needed.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate training records for each client, supporting their success in achieving defined training objectives.
  • Identify and proactively address client training issues, seeking assistance as necessary prior to instruction.
  • Maintain instructor qualifications in full compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Minimum Experience:

  • Must hold or have previously held a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Multi-crew Pilot License (MPL), or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) in the appropriate aircraft category.
  • For a Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) rating on multi-pilot airplanes or powered-lift aircraft (SFI(A) or SFI(PL)), possess a minimum of 1,500 hours of flight time as a pilot on multi-pilot airplanes or powered-lift aircraft.
  • For a Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) rating on single-pilot high-performance complex airplanes, possess a minimum of 500 hours of flight time as Pilot-in-Command on single-pilot airplanes; and hold or have held a multi-engine Instrument Rating (IR(A)).
  • For a Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) rating on helicopters (SFI(H)), possess a minimum of 1,000 hours of flight experience as a pilot on helicopters, including at least 350 hours in multi-pilot operations in any aircraft category.

  • Demonstrated first-level facilitation skills.

  • Ability to be coachable, receptive to feedback, and committed to continuous professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position requires the ability to use hands to manipulate controls and objects, reach with arms, and communicate verbally. The employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. The employee must also be able to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and anti-torque pedals with both feet.

The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional work at high, precarious locations, and outdoors, subject to various weather conditions. The employee may also be exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee should be able to enter and exit the simulator via a ramp and move freely within the training environment.
