Flight Instructor

Purpose of Position:

The Flight Instructor will provide expert ground and simulator instruction, adhering to all applicable aviation regulations and FlightSafety training standards. This position focuses specifically on rotorcraft instruction, therefore, prior rotorcraft experience is mandatory. NVG (Night Vision Goggle) experience is strongly preferred. Bilingualism, particularly in Spanish, is also preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Mandatory rotorcraft experience.
  • Preferred NVG experience.
  • Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
  • If an ATP certificate is not held, must meet the requirements of 14 CFR Part 61.153 and 14 CFR Part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating.
  • Preferred experience includes FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience.
  • Preferred 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This role requires the ability to regularly use hands to manipulate objects and controls, reach with arms, and communicate effectively. The Flight Instructor may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move between the instructor station, screen and podium. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must possess the physical dexterity to manipulate the rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet, and operate simulator controls from the instructor’s chair. Must be able to enter and exit the simulator via a ramp, and exit a malfunctioned simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The role is performed in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, and occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, and potential exposure to wet/humid conditions, fumes/airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock/radiation.
