Purpose of Position:
The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This role adheres strictly to aviation regulations and the training principles established by FlightSafety.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conducts pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develops and prepares training materials that support effective training delivery, aligning with client needs and the established curriculum.
- Evaluates and measures trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional training as required.
- Completes accurate training records for each client, diligently supporting their success in meeting training objectives.
- Proactively identifies client training issues and seeks necessary assistance before implementation.
- Maintains Instructor qualifications, meeting all regulatory requirements.
Minimum Education:
No specific education requirement is mandated for this position.
Minimum Experience:
- Must be willing and able to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Must hold an unrestricted ATP certificate, or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- If not holding an ATP, the candidate must meet requirements outlined in:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- Possession of a minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred experience includes FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training exposure.
- Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is desirable.

- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Possesses a strong understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Exhibits effective class management and teaching abilities.
- Proficient in first-level facilitation skills.
- Possesses first-level customer service skills.
- Demonstrates a willingness to be coached and receive feedback for ongoing professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The role requires regular use of hands for handling and manipulating objects, tools, and controls, as well as reaching, talking, and hearing. The employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and engage their senses of taste and smell. The employee must possess the physical range of motion to manipulate flight controls, including rudder pedals and anti-torque systems. The employee must be able to access and work within a simulator from an instructor position, including entering and exiting via the provided ramp. They must also have the ability to move between instructor station, screen and podium while instructing in the classroom and exit a malfunctioning simulator while it is pitched at a severe angle. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and may encounter high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
