Purpose of the Position:

The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to all aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive training materials aligned with the applicable curriculum to effectively meet client needs.
  • Evaluate and measure trainee progress, making recommendations for qualification or further training as required.
  • Maintain accurate training records specific to each client, facilitating their success in achieving training objectives.
  • Identify potential client training issues and proactively seek assistance before execution.
  • Maintain all instructor qualifications in strict accordance with regulatory requirements.

Minimum Education:

  • No formal educational requirement is mandated.

Minimum Experience:

  • Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Must hold an unrestricted ATP certificate or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
  • If an ATP is not held, the applicant must meet the requirements of:
    • 14 CFR Part 61.153
    • 14 CFR Part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required.
  • Preferred: Experience with FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
  • Preferred: 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of common aviation regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and teach classes.
  • Proficient first-level facilitation skills.
  • Excellent first-level customer service skills.
  • Capacity to be coachable and receptive to feedback for professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The position requires the regular use of hands for manipulating controls, reaching, and communication.

The role may involve standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Must be able to exert pressure and manipulate rudder controls and anti-torque mechanisms with both feet, and reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator.

Must be capable of safely entering and exiting the simulator using the provided ramp.

Must be able to move between the instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom.

Must be capable of exiting a malfunctioning simulator, even in severely pitched attitudes.

Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The position requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The employee will frequently work near moving mechanical parts and may work in high, precarious places and in varying weather conditions. Exposure to wet and humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, temperature extremes, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration is possible.
