Flight Instructor Position at FlightSafety International
FlightSafety International, the world's premier professional aviation training company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Flight Instructor to join our team. As a Flight Instructor, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, ensuring the highest standards of aviation safety and training excellence.
Purpose of Position:
The Flight Instructor is responsible for providing comprehensive ground and simulator flight instruction to clients, adhering to strict aviation regulations and FlightSafety's proven training principles.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare high-quality training materials that align with client needs and adhere to the established curriculum.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, providing insightful recommendations for qualification or further training as needed.
- Maintain accurate training records for each client, contributing to their successful achievement of desired training objectives.
- Proactively identify client training issues and seek assistance before execution.
- Maintain current Instructor qualifications in accordance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience:
- Must be willing and able to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
- For candidates without an ATP, meeting the following requirements is essential:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is mandatory.
- Preferred: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- Preferred: Minimum 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Thorough understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to effectively manage training classes and deliver engaging instruction.
- First-level facilitation skills for interactive training sessions.
- First-level customer service skills to provide a positive training experience for clients.
- Ability to be coachable and receptive to feedback for continuous professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The Flight Instructor role requires a range of physical abilities:
- Regular use of hands for manipulation of controls and equipment.
- Ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and anti-torque with both feet.
- Reaching and manipulating various controls within the Simulator device from the Instructor's chair.
- Entering and exiting the Simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Moving between the Instructor station, screen, and podium while providing classroom instruction.
- Exiting from a malfunctioning Simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Physical demands include:
- Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
The work environment may involve:
- Frequent work near moving mechanical parts.
- Potential work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions.
- Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
