JOB PURPOSE :

Under the delegation of the National Chief Pilot, the Director, Pilot Training is responsible to ensure Skyservice aircrews receive industry-leading training in accordance with Regulations, requirements, and industry best practices.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the content and delivery of all Training Programs as described in the Skyservice Business Aviation Training Control Manual (TCM);
  • Develop and take the lead in establishing a company training strategy/program within an approved compliance by conducting needs analyses to determine the methods and optimum solutions of training to deliver;
  • Evaluate uses for, and effectiveness of, various training and delivery methods/tools, and ensures training deficiencies are resolved;
  • Work closely with Executive Management to meet Company training needs and report on training effectiveness;
  • Take ownership of the existing training database(s)/manual(s), and evaluate learning management systems for next generation data collection and for reporting purposes;
  • Oversee training agreements/contracts with Training Providers and maintain a network of contacts to identify business opportunities and cost savings;
  • Supervise assigned personnel in the Training Division to achieve annual expected results in accordance with the requirements specified within the TCM and corporate expectations;
  • Plan and coordinate all aircrew and flight follower training with Training Providers in accordance with regulations and requirements while meeting customer’s expectations and needs;
  • Supervise assigned personnel in order to achieve annual expected results, to include annual ground training material in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs);
  • Prepare and lead audits preparation for the training department to achieve best results during internal or external annual audits (TC, EJM, ARG/US, IS-BAO, etc.);
  • Continually identify and recommend improvements to business processes to achieve Flight Operations training strategies;
  • Manage associated training budget, ensuring all courses, programs and are cost effective;
  • Assist in all other projects/tasks as assigned by the Director, Flight Operations and/or Chief Pilots.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Hold or have held an Airline Transport Pilot License and Group 1 Instrument Rating;
  • Hold or be able to hold an Aircraft Type Rating on an aircraft operated by Skyservice;
  • Previous experience with managing pilot training programs is required;
  • Previous pilot experience as a Training Captain, Simulator Instructor, Authorized Check Pilot or Chief Pilot is required;
  • Knowledge or experience with Training to Proficiency and Evidence Based Training Programs would be desirable;
  • Must possess at least 5 years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work with a variety of computer programs/systems;
  • A high achiever who is capable of working independently or in a team;
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to manage/meet tight deadlines and work under pressure when necessary;
  • Proven ability to identify and implement improvements to streamline processes and increase efficiency;
  • Superior customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization;
  • Ability to interpret technical training requirements;
  • Ability to manage/supervise direct reports;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
