SkyWest Airlines Flight Attendant Position

The primary responsibility of a Flight Attendant is to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers while onboard the aircraft. This includes:

  • Contributing to a positive and productive work environment for both employees and customers.
  • Preparing, serving, and restocking in-flight beverages, meals, and snacks; selling onboard liquor and food.
  • Greeting passengers, assisting with carry-on baggage stowage, and delivering onboard announcements.
  • Providing leadership and assistance during both emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Calmly resolving passenger issues, including handling disruptive behavior and medical incidents.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations by inspecting and operating aircraft cabin components, systems, and emergency equipment.
  • Adhering to established procedures and performance standards without direct supervision.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a current, valid U.S. or foreign passport valid for at least 12 months following the application date and any required visas for travel to the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
  • Excellent English communication skills for relaying safety information and writing detailed reports.
  • Comfortable with basic electronic devices to operate in-flight systems and track purchases.
  • Ability to work varied shifts up to 16 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to travel frequently and spend long periods of time alone and unsupervised.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Must be willing to relocate to an assigned crew domicile after successful completion of SkyWest InFlight Training, which includes locations such as: Atlanta, GA; Boise, ID; Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Fresno, CA; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; Palm Springs, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; and Tucson, AZ.

Physical and Other Requirements:

  • Height and weight must allow for safe operation of the aircraft, with a height between 5'0" and 6'0" without shoes.
  • Must be able to perform tasks requiring frequent walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 45 pounds, pushing/pulling carts up to 250 pounds.
  • Corrected vision should not exceed 20/40.
  • Normal or corrected hearing range within 15-17kHz.
  • Professional, neat, and clean appearance is required.
  • No extreme hairstyles or colors are permitted.
  • Limited jewelry and tattoo restrictions apply; facial or tongue piercings are not allowed. Tattoos must be covered if they do not meet dimension/location guidelines.
  • Must wear a company-issued uniform and required face mask/covering.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • New hire Flight Attendants are guaranteed 76 flight hours as a reserve after successfully completing phase one and two of Initial New Hire training.
  • Starting pay is $28.86 per flight hour with a guaranteed minimum of $2,193.36 gross per month based on the 76 flight hour guarantee.
  • Additional per diem of $2.25 per hour is provided for duty away from the assigned domicile.
