Job Summary
Leidos is seeking a highly skilled and experienced LUH-72A Lakota Instructor Pilot to support the Integrated Airborne Solutions (IAS) Division of the Airborne Systems Business Area. This vital role is part of the Army National Guard (ANG) Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS) program, located in Marana, AZ, at the Western Army Aviation Training Site (WAATS). As the prime contractor, Leidos provides comprehensive flight training, simulation training, classroom instruction, and schoolhouse support activities, including One Army School System (OASS) integration and Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) maintenance.
The selected Instructor Pilot will be responsible for in-flight instruction of AATS-assigned LUH-72A aircraft, including instructor qualification courses, readiness level progressions, and regional/foreign military training. This position also requires the execution of associated Instructor Operator tasks and platform academic instruction to support the AATS student training mission. All training activities must be conducted in strict accordance with AR 95-1, TRADOC Programs of Instruction (POI), UH-60 dATM, and local AATS SOPs. Contractor Instructor Pilots are required to adhere to prescribed requirements as per DCMA INST 8210-1D. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate training records for formal course students and ensure meticulous Aircrew Training Program (ATP) records for unit and readiness level (RL) progression trainees.
- Provide expert instruction and comprehensive evaluation to student pilots, adhering to Training Support Packages for AATS-approved courses of instruction.
- Conduct daily academic instruction based on approved Programs of Instruction (POI), encompassing the Aircraft Qualification Course, Instructor Pilot Course, Aircraft Standardization Course, Maintenance Test Pilot Course, and Aviation Tactics Instructor Course (ATIC).
- Facilitate thorough pre-mission planning and detailed after-action reviews for all flight and simulation periods conducted.
- Successfully complete all Aircrew Training Program (ATP) requirements in accordance with DCMA INST 8210-1D, AR 95-1, and the applicable Digital Aircrew Training Module (dATM). Contract pilots are required to actively participate in the No-notice evaluation program.
- Coordinate daily tasks and requirements, such as work schedules and leave, for contract employees to meet AATS missioned training requirements and schoolhouse accreditation, as directed by AATS chains of command.
- Ensure full compliance with all appropriate Army, National Guard, and AATS policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Coordinate with the Government Flight Representative (GFR) to confirm all contractors are qualified to perform aviation training tasks in accordance with DCMA INST 8210.1D.
- Report Instructor Flight and Operation data as required in the Task Order Monthly Report.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma with a minimum of 12 years of applicable experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
- Possession of Instructor Pilot experience with a minimum of 250 military Instructor Pilot (IP) Flight Hours and/or 2 years of IP experience at any USAACE approved or One Army School System (OASS) accredited program. Flight time and operational experience will be reviewed by the GFR in accordance with DCMA INST 8210-1D to validate experience requirements.
- USAACE/AATS (or equivalent Army approved New Equipment Training) qualified Instructor Pilot in the specific aircraft type for which duties will be performed.
- Successful completion of an Instructor Training Course (ITC) or Aviation Basic Instructor Course (ABIC) is required. Alternatively, successful graduation from an AATS-provided ABIC course within 12 months of the contractor employee start date is acceptable.
- Possession of a valid FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.
- A current FAA Second Class flight physical is required. Army Contractor pilots have the option of maintaining either an annual FAA Second Class Medical Certificate or an Army Class 2 Flight Duty Medical Examination (FDME) as per DCMA 8210.1D, paragraph 4.3.5.1.2.
- Demonstrated experience as a Standardization Pilot (SP), Instrument Flight Examiner (IE), and/or Instructor Pilot (IP) within an OASS school, MTOE, or TDA organization at the company and/or battalion level.
- Contractor pilots designated as Instrument Flight Examiners (IE), Standardization Instructor Pilots (SP), Instructor Pilots (IP), and Maintenance Evaluators (ME) performing aircraft qualification training and ATP administration must meet all Army initial aircraft qualifications and recurrent training requirements per AR 95-1 and the applicable aircraft Digital Aircrew Training Module (dATM) (DCMA 8210.1D, paragraph 4.3.4.3).
- Compliance with instructor qualification requirements outlined in TR 350-10 and TR 350-70.
- Adherence to minimum qualifications as prescribed by DCMA INST 8210.1D for contractors performing flight operations in the role of Rated Crewmember (Instructor Pilot, Instrument Flight Examiner, Standardization Instructor Pilot, Maintenance Test Pilot, Functional Check Pilot) or Non-Rated Crewmember (Flight Engineer Instructor, Flight Instructor, Crew Chief).
- All contractor Rated Crewmembers and Non-Rated Crewmembers will complete ACT-E qualification and sustainment training in accordance with TC 3-04.11.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Previous Instructor Pilot experience at EAATS, HAATS, WAATS, or a U.S. Army Aviation Training Center.
- Desired USAACE qualified Instrument Flight Examiner (IFE) designation.
Pay Range: $104,650.00 – $189,175.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
