Position Overview: Part-Time Software Developer Instructor

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Software Developer Instructor to join the College of Business, Communication & Social Sciences. This part-time faculty position focuses on delivering high-quality, innovative instruction to students from diverse backgrounds. Successful applicants will be added to a talent pool for consideration as part-time faculty needs arise.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver comprehensive instruction and assessments of learning outcomes.
  • Utilize engaging instructional strategies to foster student success within and beyond the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate student records and facilitate consistent communication.
  • Provide mentorship and support to students regarding their learning and career goals, including availability outside of scheduled class hours.
  • Exercise educational leadership and collaborate effectively with faculty, administration, and campus support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements, industry licensure, and college policies regarding instruction and assessment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of direct occupational experience in software development (e.g., Senior, Applications, Systems, Web, or Database Developer/Programmer, or Software Engineer).
  • At least one year of the required occupational experience must have occurred within the last five years.
  • Technical proficiency: Macintosh and PC platforms, C#, Java, Python, Unity, R, Unreal Engine, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, ASP.NET, MySQL, SQL Server, SQL, database development, systems analysis/design, software development methodology, GitHub, Microsoft Azure, and Agile Methodology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience with adult learners.

Work Requirements

  • Schedule: Flexibility is required to accommodate day, night, or weekend classes as needed.
  • Compensation: $45.00 per contracted class hour.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, move around campus, operate office equipment, read and communicate effectively, and lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Work Authorization: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain authorization throughout the term of employment. NWTC does not provide H-1B or other visa sponsorship for this role.
