Second in Command (SIC) - Challenger 300/350
Full-Time Position – Chicago, IL
Jet Linx is actively seeking a highly qualified and experienced Second in Command (SIC) for its Super Midsize jet aircraft operations, specifically on the Challenger 300/350 platform. This full-time position is based in Chicago, IL, and supports both Part 91 and Part 135 flight operations. The successful candidate is expected to reside or be willing to relocate within a two-hour call-out radius of the Chicago home base.
Position Summary
The Second in Command (SIC) reports directly to the Base Chief Pilot. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of company aircraft, strictly adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and established company procedures. The SIC plays a critical role in pre-flight planning, in-flight execution, and post-flight duties, contributing to a seamless and professional flight experience.
Minimum Flight Experience Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate a robust flight background with the following minimum hour requirements:
- Total Time: 1,500 hours
- Pilot in Command (PIC): 500 hours
- Multi-Engine: 500 hours
- Turbine: 100 hours
- Instrument: 150 hours
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The Second in Command will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key functions:
- Rigorously manage duty, flight, and rest periods in strict adherence to company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations (CFRs).
- Maintain consistent and clear communication with company operations regarding standby duty assignments, trip notifications, position calls, and comprehensive pre- and post-flight reports.
- Proficiently maintain and manage Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) hardware and applications, ensuring operational readiness.
- Verify the currency and accuracy of all navigation charts, aviation publications, and company manuals.
- Hold and maintain a current FAA 1st Class Medical Certificate.
- Exhibit strong, proactive, and decisive decision-making skills under all operational conditions.
- Uphold and exemplify Jet Linx’s core values in all professional interactions and duties.
Additional Requirements
Prospective candidates should also meet the following criteria:
- Possession of an Unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
- A current FAA 1st Class Medical Certificate.
- An FCC Restricted Radio License.
- Initial or Recurrent FAA Part 142 training in Challenger 300/350 type within the last 24 months is highly preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license.
- Proof of eligibility to work legally in the United States.
- Possession of a current, valid passport with unrestricted travel capabilities to all EU, Canada, and Caribbean countries.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and willingness to comply with random drug and alcohol testing as required.
- Ability to authorize and pass a comprehensive FAA Pilot Record Database review conducted by the System Chief Pilot.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by operational demands.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- Physical capability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working predominantly within aircraft cabins and airport terminal environments.
Compensation and Benefits

The starting base annual salary for this Second in Command position ranges from $124,000 to $160,000. The actual base salary is determined based on factors such as geographic location, aircraft type (crew positions), and the candidate's relevant education, training, and experience.
