Job Summary

Cactus Wellhead is seeking a professional First Officer to support the Pilot in Command (PIC) in the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of company aircraft. This role collaborates with the PIC, Chief Pilot, and company leadership to ensure successful flight missions while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service. The First Officer assists in all phases of flight preparation, execution, and post-flight duties, and must be prepared to assume PIC responsibilities if required.

Essential Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Pilot in Command in all phases of flight operations, including pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight activities.
  • Ensure aircraft readiness, including inspections, cleanliness, stocking, and required documentation.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety, health, environmental, and regulatory requirements (FAA/FAR/AIM).
  • Maintain current knowledge of aviation regulations, industry standards, and company procedures.
  • Operate in full compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and demonstrate effective Crew Resource Management (CRM).
  • Support flight planning, navigation, communication, and operational decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate flight records and required documentation.
  • Provide a high level of customer service and professionalism to passengers and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with flight department personnel, maintenance teams, and operations to ensure seamless mission execution.
  • Monitor and report any safety, operational, or maintenance concerns.
  • Represent the company professionally during all interactions with passengers, airport personnel, and external partners.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Chief Pilot or management.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or four (4) years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years as a professional pilot.

Certifications, Licenses, and Requirements

  • Hold a commercial certificate with appropriate category and class ratings.
  • Hold an instrument rating.
  • Logged a minimum of 3,000 flight hours.
  • Hold a second-class medical certificate.
  • Experience flying the Challenger 300/350 is preferred.
  • International flight experience is required.
  • Jet time in a Pilot-in-Command or SIC capacity is preferred.
  • Must meet all currency requirements regarding instrument flight time and night landings prior to flying.
  • Ability to pass an instrument competency check in the category of aircraft to be flown.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Intermediate computer and mathematical skills.
  • Advanced language skills and reasoning ability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aviation regulations and policies.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a professional environment. Employees must be able to sit for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to maintain sustained concentration and work under deadlines. Safety is a top priority; employees must comply with all safety programs and may be required to work in potentially hazardous environments when traveling to branch or plant locations.
