Pilot in Command

Jet Aviation, a distinguished leader in global aviation since 1967, seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Pilot in Command to join its team of professionals. This individual will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of flight assignments, upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and quality. Reporting to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command will exercise full authority over assigned flights, acting as the final decision-maker for all aspects of flight safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
  • Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum of 4,000 hours of total fixed-wing flight time.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours of multi-engine land flight time.
  • Minimum of 2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command flight time.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours of turbojet flight time.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours of turbine flight time.
  • Minimum of 100 hours of night flight time.
  • Minimum of 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time.
  • Five years of aviation experience.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules.
  • Unrestricted willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide.
  • Valid driver's license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate aircraft safely, determine optimal departure times and routes, and make informed decisions regarding flight cancellations due to weather or other conditions.
  • Ensure complete adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement necessary adjustments to flight plans based on en-route conditions, maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
  • Complete all trip paperwork accurately and in accordance with current procedures.
  • Ensure thorough and comprehensive communication with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of flight operations.
  • Record all aircraft discrepancies in the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report such discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
  • Verify that the flight crew presents for duty in proper attire and that they are mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems and associated emergency procedures.
  • Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage as deemed necessary.
  • Acquire the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
  • File or cause to be filed a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
  • Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended airport of landing and alternates.
  • Fulfill the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) as applicable under relevant security programs.
  • Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the Second in Command.
  • Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume Pilot in Command duties in emergencies or upon promotion.
  • Complete and send leg manifests to operations control prior to each departure.
  • Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
  • Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues, reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
  • Report any hazardous action, conduct, or event immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
  • Delegate duties as needed, while maintaining ultimate responsibility for those duties.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Represent Jet Aviation professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires the use of hands and fingers for handling, feeling, and reaching. The individual must frequently stand, walk, or sit, and occasionally climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment:

The position involves working in both heavy maintenance and upscale customer areas. The noise level is typically moderate with occasional high volume during aircraft arrival/departure. Exposure to vibration and occasional fuel fumes may occur. The individual must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions, and in the potentially extreme temperatures of the hangar environment.
