Lead Captain

Position Summary
The Lead Captain reports directly to the regional chief pilot, adhering to all company operating policies and procedures. This role emphasizes safety, security, and quality, ensuring the efficient and safe execution of all assigned flights. The Lead Captain holds the ultimate authority for the safe conduct of each flight. This position requires a candidate who resides within a two-hour radius of Burbank Airport.
Minimum Requirements
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Accumulate 4000 hours of total fixed-wing flight time.
- Log 1500 hours of multi-engine land flight experience.
- Demonstrate 2000 hours of Pilot-in-Command experience.
- Achieve 1500 hours of turbojet flight time.
- Record 1500 hours of turbine flight time.
- Possess 100 hours of night flight experience.
- Accumulate 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time.
- Possess 5 years of aviation experience.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working schedules.
- Willingness to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and making necessary cancellations based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure strict adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout the flight.
- Coordinate flight schedules and training with the flight crew and customer service representatives, utilizing supplemental crew as needed.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing, cleaning, and other related tasks.
- Oversee the submission and review of flight and duty records, along with all other required documentation, by assigned crew members.
- Ensure the aircraft manuals, Jeppesen charts/Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) are up-to-date and delegate responsibilities as required.
- In conjunction with the Manager of Training, coordinate crew member training and check rides, adhering to the annual training calendar.
- Manage crew member time off and training events while maintaining maximum aircraft coverage.
- Verify that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Mentor and coach crew members to facilitate their professional development.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned crew members.
- Participate in Lead Captain meetings.
- Provide support to the Account Director as needed.
- Assist in the hiring process for flight crew.
- Implement necessary changes based on en route conditions to ensure the flight continues in accordance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct the flight in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensure a thorough and complete understanding with the second in command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Refer to the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and determine, as directed by the Director of Maintenance or their designee, if the inoperative item can be deferred or requires repair, completing the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures associated with the aircraft.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most recent weather reports, forecasts, and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) from a FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or ensure the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) state air traffic control facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Fulfill the responsibilities of the In-transit Security Administration Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the twelve-five standard security program or the private charter standard security program, as applicable.
- Conduct the required passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the second in command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the second in command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when the second in command upgrades to pilot in command in that aircraft.
- Complete and submit the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively participate in the open sharing of information on all safety issues, reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the chief pilot and director of safety.
- Delegate duties, but retain ultimate responsibility for those duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Represent Jet Aviation as a unified entity internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Compensation Data
The posted salary ranges will default to your regional location and will not include any premiums. The baseline range will be as follows: $250,000-$300,000 per year.
