Flight Attendant
Hawaiian Airlines is seeking a dedicated Flight Attendant to join its 'ohana and contribute to providing exceptional Hawaiian hospitality. The Flight Attendant's primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of guests aboard company aircraft by being physically and psychologically prepared to execute safety procedures and assist guests during emergencies. They must thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively manage emergency situations, and interact with diverse personalities in a courteous and attentive manner.
Secondary duties involve delivering consistent and prescribed customer service within the aircraft cabin during flight, including food and beverage service, while creating an unsurpassed Aloha experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attending preflight briefings to receive information on weather, altitudes, routes, emergency procedures, crew coordination, flight duration, food and beverage services, and guest count.
- Greeting guests with warmth, directing them to their seats, and addressing flight-related inquiries.
- Assisting guests in stowing carry-on luggage in overhead compartments or beneath seats.
- Demonstrating the use of safety equipment (seat belts, oxygen masks, life jackets) and explaining emergency procedures before takeoff.
- Monitoring aisles to ensure guest compliance with safety regulations, addressing infractions, and effectively resolving challenging guest situations.
- Guiding and supporting guests during emergency procedures, such as aircraft evacuation following an emergency landing.
- Providing consistent and procedural food and beverage service.
- Collecting and reconciling payments for onboard purchases, including alcoholic beverages, meals, and duty-free items.
- Administering first aid when necessary.
- Preparing written and verbal reports on emergency or safety incidents that occur during flight.
- Preparing the aircraft and guests for landing, adhering to established procedures.
- Successfully completing annual FAA-approved recertification provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Obtaining and maintaining an AOA Badge.
- Maintaining current knowledge and competency of emergency procedures in accordance with Hawaiian Airlines' and FAA regulations.
- Working alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Interacting effectively and professionally with colleagues and guests.
- Collaborating with colleagues to deliver a seamless Aloha experience by promptly and pleasantly addressing guest inquiries, requests, and complaints.
- Identifying potential issues and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Working in diverse climates and locations globally and adapting to variable shifts.
- Flying at high altitudes.
- Meeting the physical demands of the job.
- Assisting ill or incapacitated passengers and crew members.
- Evacuating the aircraft in heavy smoke during a cabin fire.
- Handling and operating oxygen bottles and fire extinguishers.
- Removing and lifting emergency cabin windows (weighing up to 60 pounds).
- Jumping down the emergency slide from a height of approximately 24.5 feet.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Presentation of a professional image. Restrictions apply to visible body art (including tattoos), facial, multiple or upper ear piercings, gauge piercings, or extreme hair color or style while in uniform and in public view.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills and ability to effectively diffuse and resolve difficult customer situations.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Successful completion of an FAA-approved, unpaid eight-week intensive training program provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Ability to relocate within the state of Hawaii or the continental U.S.
- Ability to work alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to reach 82 inches vertically.
- Ability to sit in a cabin crew jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Ability to complete pre-employment requirements: Drug Test, tuberculosis (TB) and background check.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Possession of a valid passport and ability to secure applicable visas for travel to countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Possession of the legal right to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Valid travel documents throughout all phases of training and employment.
- Ability to work in environments subject to varying climatic conditions, variable gravitational loads induced by turbulence, and varying levels of cabin pressurization. The role requires prolonged standing (up to four to seventeen hours), stooping, twisting, and manipulating cabin equipment.
- Current Employees must be in good standing with the company.
Hawaiian Airlines is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT - regulation, 49 CFR part 40) and all applicants are advised that post-offer and/or pre-employment drug testing will be conducted to determine the presence of Marijuana, Cocaine, Opioids, PCP (Phencyclidine), and Amphetamine prior to any offer of employment or transfer into a safety-sensitive position. Failure to submit to testing or positive indications of drug use will render the applicant ineligible for employment with Hawaiian Airlines and any employment offer will be withdrawn.
In addition to routine employment eligibility verification, U.S.-based airlines must gather information to validate country of citizenship and country of birth. Upon hire, documentation proving current country citizenship and birthplace is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of direct customer experience in the hospitality or airline industry, OR four years of customer contact and customer service issue resolution with the general public in industries such as retail, education, health care, and/or professional services.
- College education or degree.
