Overview

Horizon Air is seeking dedicated professionals to join our team as Flight Attendants. Operating regionally throughout the West, our Flight Attendants are responsible for delivering signature inflight experiences while maintaining an uncompromising commitment to safety. This role requires individuals who are capable of managing a flexible schedule, upholding high operational standards, and fostering a positive, professional environment for both guests and colleagues. This is a union-represented position.

Role Summary

As the face of Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, the successful candidate will serve as an authentic and gracious host. Flight Attendants must possess in-depth knowledge of inflight service duties and emergency safety procedures, consistently maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor.

Key Duties

  • Maintain full compliance with all safety regulations and ensure all aircraft safety equipment is fully operational.
  • Conduct passenger greetings, assist with seating assignments, and oversee carry-on baggage stowage and security protocols.
  • Explain and demonstrate safety equipment and emergency procedures for multiple aircraft types.
  • Prepare and serve meals and beverages, including alcoholic refreshments.
  • Market onboard products and process sales using mobile devices.
  • Resolve passenger situations calmly and professionally, including the management of medical emergencies.
  • Provide flight operation updates and destination information to guests.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of customer or community service experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the U.S. and Canada.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Must meet grooming, uniform, and appearance standards, including specific company tattoo policies.
  • Must meet physical requirements to operate within aircraft dimensions (e.g., jump seats, cabin aisles, and emergency exits).
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with mobile technology.
  • Ability to relocate to designated bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA.
  • Flexible availability for a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and perform duties effectively under stress.
  • Willingness to serve alcohol.

Training and Assessment

Applicants must be available to complete a 40-minute audio assessment as part of the application process. Selected candidates must complete four weeks of mandatory, paid training located in Portland, OR.

Total Rewards and Compensation

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement. The first-year step rate is $20.66 per hour. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, quarterly and annual bonus plans, paid time off, and flight privileges on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air.

Regulatory and Security Requirements

Employment is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain an Airport SIDA badge. As a safety-sensitive role under Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, candidates must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening.
