GA-SI's Aero Services division is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Deployable UAV Instructor/Operator Pilot. This exciting opportunity involves providing critical support for General Atomics' Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) initiatives for the U.S. Army, contributing to cutting-edge unmanned aerial vehicle operations.
The Deployable UAV Instructor/Operator Pilot performs a vital role in supporting customer organizational units through comprehensive aircrew training, meticulous evaluations, and sustained flight operations. This position requires active coordination and participation in all facets of ground and flight operations, encompassing mission planning, precise execution, detailed briefing and debriefing, effective aircrew resource management, and stringent adherence to safety protocols.
The incumbent may be required to remotely pilot Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to verify compliance with specifications and assess operational suitability during flight test and demonstration support, utilizing specifically prescribed tests and maneuvers. A critical aspect of this role is ensuring full compliance with service guidance, company policies and procedures, and all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
Additionally, the Instructor/Operator Pilot may contribute to the development and verification of procedures for new aircraft features and participate in the creation of operational and safety procedures and training syllabus courseware. The role also mandates strict observance of all applicable laws, regulations, and company obligations, along with a commitment to working safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Candidates should typically possess educational training equivalent to the completion of a four-year technical degree or trade school equivalency. Equivalent professional or military experience in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or general aviation may be considered in lieu of formal education.
A detailed understanding of UAV and FAA principles, theories, and concepts is essential, alongside familiarity with Army forms, records, and publications, and Contractor Flight and Ground Operations procedures and records (DCMA 8210).
Applicants must have a minimum of two hundred (200) hours in a Universal Ground Control Station (UGCS) or One System Ground Control Station (OSGCS), with at least fifty (50) hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) and possessing a UAV instructor or multiple UAV aircraft qualification. Graduation from a Department of the Army (DA) or Department of the Air Force (DES) Instructor Operator (IO) Course for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle is also required.
This position demands excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, military and civilian customers, contractors, and aircrew. Detailed knowledge of computer operations and applications is necessary. Candidates must be able to maintain an FAA Class II flight physical. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment is crucial, as is the flexibility to work extended hours and undertake required travel.
