Flight Instructor Position at FlightSafety International
FlightSafety International, the world's leading provider of professional aviation training and supplier of flight simulators, visual systems, and displays to commercial, government, and military organizations, seeks a highly skilled and motivated Flight Instructor to join its team.
Purpose of the Position:
The Flight Instructor delivers exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles, ensuring the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare engaging training materials to meet client needs, adhering to the established curriculum.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, recommending qualification or further training as necessary.
- Maintain accurate training records specific to each client, supporting their achievement of desired objectives.
- Proactively identify and address client training issues, seeking assistance when required.
- Maintain current Instructor qualifications in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience:
- Must be willing and able to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possess an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- In the absence of an ATP, candidates must meet the requirements outlined in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, excluding any Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitations.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is essential.
- Preferred experience includes FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
- Preferred total flight time: 2,500 hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Familiarity with common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to effectively manage classes and deliver engaging instruction.
- First-level facilitation skills.
- First-level customer service skills.
- Willingness to be coached and receive feedback for professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The role requires the ability to:
- Utilize hands for fine motor skills, handle objects, tools, and controls, and reach with both arms.
- Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
- Perform the following physical movements: Reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet. Reach and manipulate numerous controls within the Simulator device from the Instructor's chair. Enter and exit the Simulator device via the provided ramp. Move between the Instructor station, screen, and podium during classroom instruction. Exit a malfunctioning Simulator safely, even in a severely pitched attitude.
- Possess exceptional vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work will frequently involve proximity to moving mechanical parts. The employee may work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions, and may be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
