Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to all aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the highest standards of training for our diverse clientele.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients, encompassing core, specialty, and enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare engaging training materials that align with the client's specific needs and adhere to relevant curriculum guidelines.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, providing constructive feedback and recommending qualifications or additional training as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed training records for each client, supporting their success in achieving the desired objectives.
- Proactively identify potential training issues and seek assistance before they arise.
- Maintain active Instructor qualifications in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Ability and willingness to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Unrestricted ATP certificate, or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- If no ATP, candidates must meet the requirements of:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred: Experience with FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
- Preferred: 2,500 hours of total flight time.

- Comprehensive understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to manage classes effectively and deliver engaging training sessions.
- First-level facilitation skills to foster a conducive learning environment.
- First-level customer service skills to provide exceptional support to our clients.
- Receptiveness to coaching and feedback to support ongoing professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The Flight Instructor role requires a high degree of physical dexterity and adaptability. The employee will regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
Specific physical requirements include:
- Ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet.
- Reaching and manipulating numerous controls within the Simulator device from the Instructor's chair.
- Entering and exiting the Simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Moving between the Instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom.
- Exiting from a malfunctioned Simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment may involve frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and potential hazards, such as high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
