Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor holds a critical role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This individual adheres to stringent aviation regulations and embodies FlightSafety Training's core principles.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor's responsibilities encompass:
- Providing comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Developing and preparing engaging training materials tailored to meet specific client needs and aligned with the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluating and measuring trainee progress, recommending them for qualification or suggesting additional training as needed.
- Maintaining meticulous training records for each client, diligently documenting their journey toward achieving their desired objectives.
- Proactively identifying potential client training challenges and seeking assistance prior to course execution.
- Maintaining Instructor qualifications in strict accordance with regulatory requirements, ensuring the delivery of the highest-quality instruction.
Minimum Experience
Candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:
- Willingness to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate, or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- In the absence of an ATP, candidates must fulfill the requirements outlined in:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- At least one unrestricted PIC type rating.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience within FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or a military training environment.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

- Extensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- A strong understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage classes and deliver engaging and effective instruction.
- Proven first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
- A commitment to continuous learning, demonstrating the ability to be coachable and receptive to feedback for professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires a range of physical abilities, including the dexterity to operate simulator controls, the ability to move within confined spaces, and the capacity to withstand varying environmental conditions. Specific vision abilities are also crucial.
