C-17 Loadmaster Instructor

Position Overview:
The C-17 Loadmaster Instructor plays a critical role in developing and delivering high-quality ground-based training to C-17 Loadmaster students. This role focuses on implementing the established Training System (TS) curriculum, evaluating student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment conducive to achieving proficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct engaging and comprehensive briefings and debriefings tailored to individual student needs and learning styles.
- Provide constructive feedback and counsel students on their performance, fostering continuous improvement and addressing learning challenges.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of training materials, suggesting courseware corrections, modifications, and updates to training policies and procedures.
- Deliver dynamic and interactive Loadmaster training encompassing cargo loading/unloading procedures. This includes utilizing various learning platforms, such as classrooms, training aids, Computer-Based Training (CBT), Loadmaster Trainer (LMT), Cargo Compartment Trainer (CCT), Weapon System Trainer (WST), and the C-17 aircraft.
- Perform comprehensive evaluations of student performance, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and learning gaps. Diagnose challenges, prescribe remedial instruction, and meticulously document training progress.
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing the Training Management System/Graduate Training Information Management System (GTIMS) for tracking student data, analyzing performance results, and preparing for student review sessions.
- Serve as a readily available C-17 Loadmaster Subject Matter Expert (SME) for students and fellow personnel, providing guidance, clarification, and support.
- Maintain a high level of instructional expertise by actively participating in cargo loading/unloading exercises within the CCT, ensuring practical knowledge remains current.
- Participate in observational flights aboard the C-17 aircraft to maintain currency on operational procedures and assess student progress in a real-world setting.
Additional Responsibilities:
In addition to the core responsibilities, the C-17 Loadmaster Instructor will:
- Execute administrative duties related to training administration, encompassing record keeping, meticulous monitoring of student progress, student counseling, active participation in training development initiatives, and ongoing maintenance of training programs.
- Potentially serve as a Flight Check Airman (FCA) (Lead), Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Evaluator, Simulator Certification (SIMCERT)/Simulator Evaluation (SIMVAL) specialist, Learning Center monitor, safety representative, physical/cyber security representative, and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) specialist as assigned by the Employer.
- Attend relevant meetings, conferences, and reviews, including Operations Group Standardization/Evaluation (Stan/Eval) Boards (SEB), Training Review Panels (TRP), Formal Training Unit (FTU) instructor meetings, Headquarters (HQ) Air Mobility Command (AMC) curriculum reviews, HQ AMC Stan/Eval Conferences, and Flight Manual Review Conferences (FMRC).
- Be prepared to travel as required.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to undertake other duties as assigned.
Candidate Profile:
- Education: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree.
- Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years flying experience as a military crewmember. Minimum of two (2) years of flight instructor experience as a C-17 Loadmaster. C-17 instructor experience within five (5) years of hiring date preferred, or ability to obtain an AMC/A3TK waiver.
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Exceptional ability to interface with students, providing immediate remediation or developing alternative courses of action to facilitate learning.
- Unwavering commitment to upholding a high standard of instruction and maintaining a deep well of subject knowledge, expertise, and instructional capability.
- Thorough knowledge of C-17 aircraft systems, cargo loading/unloading procedures, and general aircraft operating procedures.
- Strong understanding of instructional principles and theories related to Training Systems (TS).
- Proven ability to successfully complete annual internal standardization evaluations.
- Active SECRET Security Clearance required.
