Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of aviation by delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. Adhering to stringent aviation regulations and FlightSafety's esteemed training principles, the Flight Instructor provides trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the demanding field of aviation.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor's responsibilities encompass a wide range of crucial tasks:
- Conduct engaging and informative pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and meticulously prepare comprehensive training materials tailored to meet specific client needs while adhering to the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluate and meticulously measure trainee progress, providing insightful recommendations for qualification or additional training as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed training records for each client, ensuring their successful achievement of training objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training issues and seek timely assistance to ensure a seamless and effective training experience.
- Maintain current Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Minimum Requirements
- Eligibility to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- In the absence of an ATP, candidates must meet the requirements outlined in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Thorough understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classes and deliver engaging instruction.
- Strong first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
- Receptiveness to coaching and feedback to support continuous professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role requires physical dexterity and the ability to operate simulator controls with both hands and feet. The Flight Instructor must be able to navigate the simulator environment, including entering and exiting from a potentially pitched attitude. Strong visual acuity, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, is essential. The ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 25 pounds is required. The work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and various weather conditions.
