C-17 Pilot Instructor

About the Role:
The C-17 Pilot Instructor plays a critical role in shaping the skills and knowledge of future C-17 pilots. This individual will lead ground-based training, utilizing advanced simulation technology and established Training System (TS) curriculum to deliver engaging and effective instruction.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive training using a variety of tools including the Weapon System Trainer (WST), C-17 aircraft, Computer-Based Trainers (CBT), and other ground training resources.
- Conduct thorough briefings and debriefings, providing constructive feedback and guidance to students.
- Maintain a high level of subject matter expertise, staying abreast of the latest developments in C-17 operations and instructional methodologies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to refine and improve training programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality instruction.
- Monitor student progress, identify areas for improvement, and provide individualized support to foster student success.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for students, personnel, and during test events.
- Potentially serve as Flight Check Airman (FCA)(Lead), Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Evaluator, and perform Simulator Certification (SIMCERT)/Simulator Evaluation (SIMVAL) duties as assigned.
- Contribute to project and development work as needed, supporting the continuous enhancement of training programs.
- Participate in Operations Group Standardization/Evaluation (Stan/Eval) Boards (SEB), Training Review Panels (TRP), and Formal Training Unit (FTU) instructor meetings as required.
- Attend relevant conferences and meetings, staying current on industry best practices and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Eight (8) years of flying experience, including five (5) years as a C-17 pilot with demonstrable air drop and aerial refueling experience, or the ability to obtain an AMC/A3TK waiver.
- Two (2) years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience encompassing air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics.
- Recent C-17 flight simulator pilot instructor experience and CATS MECOC certification are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, enabling effective student assessment and the development of tailored instructional approaches.
- Proficiency in personal computers and software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- An active SECRET Security Clearance is required for this position.
