Pilot Instructor
FlightSafety International, the world's premier aviation training company, seeks a highly qualified Pilot Instructor to deliver simulator-based training in the Weapon System Trainer (WST) for U.S. Air Force and Allied Nation KC-46 Pilots undergoing Quarterly Refresher training. This position is responsible for instructing and assessing the training progress of both pilot and maintenance students.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Quarterly Refresher training utilizing various resources including classrooms, Computer-Based Training (CBT), the WST, and KC-46 aircraft.
- Deliver ground-based training in tanker and receiver operating procedures, addressing and resolving student challenges.
- Provide Initial and Recurring training for Maintenance Personnel attending Engine Run courses.
- Conduct briefings, debriefings, and counseling to maintain a high level of technical proficiency among Aircrew Members and Maintenance Personnel.
- Analyze student data to prepare for thorough review sessions.
- Serve as a KC-46 Pilot Subject Matter Expert for students and relevant personnel.
- Maintain exceptional standards of instruction, knowledge, and expertise.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of KC-46 aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Demonstrate a superior grasp and application of instructional principles relevant to aircrew training systems.
- Provide essential input for courseware corrections and updates to training policies and procedures.
- Assist with additional projects and development work as assigned.
- Manage the Student Management System.
- Perform administrative duties associated with training, including record-keeping, student progress monitoring, and counseling.
- Participate in WST certification testing, when required.
- Review CBT and classroom lesson plans for content accuracy to ensure optimal Quality Assurance (QA) standards and recommend/incorporate necessary updates to curricula.
- Support courseware development and the integrity of established training curricula.
- Support training device development initiatives.
- Participate in an annual aircraft familiarization flight as a non-flying crew member.
- Travel as needed.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education, experience, and training.
- Experience as a qualified Tanker Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) Pilot Flight Instructor or as a Tanker AAR Aircrew Training System (ATS) Pilot Instructor within 5 years of assignment to the KC-46 ATS.
- A minimum of 200 flying hours in U.S. Air Force or Allied Nation aircraft, or equivalent flight simulator, with at least 50% occurring in the aircraft.
- Receiver AAR Instructor experience is highly desirable.
- Type rating in B-767 preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to morally and ethically influence others to meet program objectives.
- Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to interact with students and provide effective on-the-spot remediation.
- Basic knowledge of personal computers and software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Successful completion of an annual internal standardization evaluation.
- Current possession of, or the ability to obtain, a SECRET clearance.
Equipment Used:
- Computer with word processing and spreadsheet software, printers, and classroom presentation equipment.
- WST and KC-46 aircraft, as applicable.
- CBT.
- Student Management System.
Physical Demands:
This position requires sitting for extended periods, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing. The position may require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. The position requires close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
