Pilot Instructor - KC-46 Weapon System Trainer
FlightSafety International, the world's premier professional aviation training company, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Pilot Instructor to join its team at a state-of-the-art training facility.
Purpose of Position:
The Pilot Instructor will play a critical role in delivering simulator-based training within the KC-46 Weapon System Trainer (WST). Responsibilities encompass the comprehensive instruction of U.S. Air Force and Allied Nation KC-46 Pilots in various training programs, including Initial, Upgrade, Requalification, and Refresher training. Additionally, the Instructor will provide training to Maintenance Personnel attending Engine Run Initial Qualification and Refresher Training.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conduct all phases of KC-46 training, utilizing a range of training devices, including classrooms, Pilot Part Task Trainers (PTTP), Boom Operator Part Task Trainers (PTTB), Boom Operator Trainers (BOT), Fuselage Trainers (FuT), the WST, and the KC-46 aircraft itself.
- Deliver ground-based training, as needed, for Aircrew Members in tanker and receiver operating procedures, including the identification and resolution of student challenges.
- Deliver Initial and Recurring training for Maintenance Personnel attending Engine Run courses.
- Conduct comprehensive briefings and debriefings, and provide individualized counseling to Aircrew Members and Maintenance Personnel to foster and maintain the highest levels of technical skill and proficiency.
- Extract, analyze, and present student data to facilitate effective review sessions.
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for KC-46 Pilot operations, providing guidance to students and other relevant personnel as necessary.
- Maintain exceptional standards of instruction, demonstrating deep knowledge, proficiency, and expertise in KC-46 systems and operations.
- Continuously enhance knowledge and understanding of KC-46 aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Exhibit a strong understanding and application of instructional principles and theories relevant to aircrew training systems.
- Contribute to the improvement of training materials by providing input for courseware corrections, modifications, and updates to training policies and procedures.
- Manage the Student Management System.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree, or four years of combined education and relevant experience in addition to the requirements outlined below.
Minimum Experience:
- Proven experience as a qualified Receiver Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) Pilot Flight Instructor or as a Receiver AAR Aircrew Training System (ATS) Instructor.
- Both roles must have been held within the past five years preceding the date of assignment to the KC-46 ATS.
- A minimum of 200 flying hours logged in U.S. Air Force or Allied Nation receiver aircraft, or equivalent flight simulator, with at least 50% of those hours accumulated in the aircraft.
- Tanker AAR Pilot Instructor experience is highly desirable.
- Type rating in B-767 preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and guide individuals to achieve program goals effectively.
- Fluent written and spoken English skills, including the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the language.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with students, providing immediate remediation or determining alternative courses of action as needed.
- Basic proficiency in personal computers and software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Successful completion of annual internal standardization evaluations.
- Current SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Type rating in B-767 preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The position primarily requires sitting, using hands and fingers to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 20 pounds may be required.
- Clear close and distance vision, along with the ability to adjust focus, is essential.
- The work environment generally has a moderate noise level.
