First Officer

This position entails responsibility for the safety and security of the aircraft, its passengers, and cargo, in accordance with their defined duties and in the absence of the Commander. The First Officer maintains a thorough understanding of Etihad's Operations Manual to execute their functions with professionalism and safety. They will assist the Commander with administrative duties related to the flight, and support the Commander in upholding high standards of crew discipline, conduct, and personal presentation. The First Officer executes flight-related duties according to Etihad's operating policies and procedures, as delegated by the Commander. They are responsible for confirming the safe navigation of the aircraft, conducting continuous and independent checks of geographical position, and ensuring safe terrain and weather clearance. Furthermore, they conduct the flight in compliance with the current flight plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the Commander’s instructions when the Commander is not at the controls, notifying the Commander of any deviations upon their return. The First Officer is expected to provide advice, information, and assistance to the Commander, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the flight, and must always maintain a high standard of discipline, conduct, and appearance as a representative of Etihad Airways. In the event of Commander incapacitation, the highest-ranking First Officer assumes command.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2500 hours total flight time.
  • A minimum of 1500 hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit, or high-performance military jet.
  • 500 hours should be on B777/B787 aircraft.
  • Possession of a current and unrestricted ICAO ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License). Frozen ATPLs are not accepted, unless held by a UAE citizen.
  • Current certification on B777/B787 aircraft.
  • A current and unrestricted Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Must be under 50 years of age.
  • English language proficiency (written and verbal) at Level 4 or better.
  • For flight hours accumulated with in-flight relief, 75% will be credited towards the required minimums.
  • Glass Cockpit defined as: aircraft with an FMS coupled to APFDS.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Fixed monthly salary of AED 26,000.
  • Flight duty allowance:
    • 1-6 years of service: AED 40 per block hour
    • 7-18 years of service: AED 56 per block hour
  • Meal allowance during layovers at the following rates:
    • Middle East/GCC/Sub Continent: AED 12 per hour
    • Asia/Far East: AED 15 per hour
    • Africa/Australasia: AED 18 per hour
    • Europe/Americas: AED 23 per hour
  • Housing allowance up to AED 160,000 per year.
  • Education allowance of AED 40,000 for primary and AED 55,000 for secondary education, applicable to up to 3 children.
