Compensation and Benefits
Etihad Airways offers a highly competitive annual compensation package designed to attract and retain top talent. This includes a basic salary, flying pay, a housing allowance to facilitate securing a preferred residence, and generous layover and meal allowances. Captains have the potential to earn a tax-free annual income of up to AED 637,304 (approximately USD 171,589) based on 75 flying hours per month. Annual salary increments are performance-based.

The Role of an Airline Captain
The Airline Captain holds paramount responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft and the well-being of all on board. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the safety and security of all crew members, passengers, and cargo throughout the flight.
- Exercising complete operational command and responsibility for the aircraft from the moment it is prepared for taxiing until its final rest at the destination and engine shutdown.
- Taking all necessary and reasonable measures to ensure compliance with lawful commands from all persons carried in the aircraft, thereby securing the safety of the aircraft, its occupants, and property.
- Operating the aircraft efficiently in strict adherence to company fuel policies.
- Maintaining and ensuring exceptional On-Time Performance (OTP).
Required Qualifications and Experience
Prospective candidates for the Airline Captain position must meet the following stringent criteria:
- A minimum of 7,000 hours of total flying time.
- A minimum of 2,500 Pilot-in-Command (PIC) hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit jet aircraft. (Glass Cockpit: aircraft with a Flight Management System (FMS) coupled to an Automatic Pilot Flight Director System (APFDS)).
- A minimum of 1,500 PIC hours on any Airbus wide-body Fly-By-Wire (FBW) aircraft.
- A valid type rating on any Airbus FBW aircraft, with a minimum validity of two months at the time of joining.
- Possession of an unrestricted and current ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- Recent flying experience on any Airbus FBW aircraft within the last 12 months.
- If currently type-rated on an A320, a previous type-rating on an A350 or A380 is mandatory.
- An unrestricted and current Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- Maximum age of 59 years on the date of joining.
- Demonstrated English Language Fluency (written and verbal) at ICAO Level 4 or higher.
- For hours accumulated on flights with in-flight relief, 75% of the total hours will be credited towards the required minimums.
