Job Purpose
As an Air Arabia Captain, the primary purpose of this pivotal role is to conduct assigned flights in strict adherence to the detailed provisions of the Air Arabia Operational Manual and all relevant GCAA/CAA regulations. The Captain is responsible for ensuring the utmost safety, security, and operational efficiency across all flights. This includes providing exemplary leadership and guidance to flight and cabin crew, expertly managing emergencies and unforeseen scenarios, and maintaining full command of the aircraft to uphold successful performance and Air Arabia's distinguished corporate image.
Key Responsibilities of an Air Arabia Captain
- Operates Air Arabia aircraft on assigned routes in accordance with established schedules, approved flight plans, and Air Arabia's paramount operational priorities: ultimate safety, operational efficiency, and superior passenger comfort.
- Ensures all assigned flights are conducted in strict compliance with the Air Arabia Operations Manual and regulatory requirements, consistently implementing, monitoring, and maintaining procedures for safe and smooth aircraft operation.
- Guarantees timely attendance, impeccable grooming, fitness, and legal readiness for self and all Flight Crew members. Conducts thorough pre-flight briefings to ensure comprehensive understanding of flight details and operational procedures.
- Collaborates effectively with First Officers, Second Officers, and the Dispatch Team prior to each flight, ensuring the flight and cabin crew are fully prepared and informed on aircraft technical status, route specifics, weather conditions, fuel requirements, weight distribution, and role assignments.
- Optimizes fuel efficiency during flight operations, always within the stringent safety constraints outlined in the Air Arabia Operations Manual.
- Oversees and verifies that all essential safety, security, fuel, and transit checks are diligently completed by assigned flight and cabin crew members before, during, and after each flight. Provides decisive direction and takes appropriate action in response to safety or security irregularities, escalating issues as necessary.
- Collaborates with Maintenance Engineers to ascertain aircraft technical status and airworthiness. Engages with MCC and MROs to address concerns, identify defects, or technical issues, and ensures immediate implementation of rectification or corrective measures where applicable.
- Ensures meticulous completion and loading of all required documentation and technical logs with accurate data, adhering strictly to Air Arabia and GCAA/CAA regulations and adopted procedures, including technical logbooks, journey books, and boarding sheets.
- Verifies that the Air Arabia Operations Manual is properly distributed, accounted for, meticulously maintained, kept current, fully understood, and rigorously complied with by all Flight Crew members.
- Maintains current and comprehensive knowledge of all legal requirements from relevant regulatory bodies, including Civil Aviation, GCAA/CAA, Airbus, and other pertinent authorities governing flights and Flight Crew.
- Undertakes additional ground-based responsibilities, such as Safety Officer or Security Officer, as directed by the Head of Flight Operations and in accordance with Part A of the Air Arabia Operations Manual.
Qualifications (Academic, Training, and Languages)
- Possession of an appropriate Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is mandatory; an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) is highly preferred.
- Successful completion of technical and psychometric assessments for Pilots, compliant with Air Arabia, GCAA, and CAA standards.
- Successful completion of medical fitness check-ups for Pilots, compliant with Air Arabia, GCAA, and CAA standards.
- Essential training in safety and emergency response; a formal qualification in this area is an advantage.
- Basic training in airport and security procedures and regulations is an advantage.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM) training is considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with IATA principles and standards relating to security is an advantage.
- Demonstrated proficiency in aircraft systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, internet, and web search.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and presentations.
Work Experience
- Holds a valid Instrument Rating (IR).
- Possesses a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- Previous experience flying commercial airlines is preferred.
- Experience within a low-cost airline environment is highly desirable.
- Possesses comprehensive industry knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience to competently handle delegated roles, particularly in safety or security, as required by Air Arabia and GCAA/CAA regulations.
- Significant exposure to Quality Assurance (QA), Safety, Security, and Audit procedures and practices relevant to Flight Operations.
- Proven capability in implementing policies, procedures, and manuals in adherence to approved standards and regulations.
