Aviation Instructor - T-44A/C Aircraft Systems

CAE is seeking a qualified Aviation Instructor to provide T-44A/C aircraft systems and operational procedures instruction. The instructor will deliver classroom and simulator aviation instruction, as well as training in practical environments. The successful candidate will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) as required. Additional responsibilities may include courseware review, publications, safety, quality audits, Flight Crew Information File (FCIF) management, scheduling, and other administrative or collateral duties as assigned by the Program or Site Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides pilot procedures instruction in classroom and simulator environments.
  • Assists with the development and updates of training devices.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert in the development of curriculum for new courses and the review of existing lessons and changes.
  • Offers suggestions to improve and update training policies and procedures.
  • Promotes a positive attitude towards learning and embracing new technologies and tasks.
  • Performs diagnosis and remediation of student performance issues.
  • Assists in project and development work as assigned.
  • Executes administrative duties, including student record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, quality assurance, safety, and security.
  • Maintains cognizance of student safety while onboard the simulator.
  • Maintains proficiency in the operation of Aircrew Training Devices.
  • Maintains proficiency in all areas of instruction to a level capable of passing standardization checks and classroom evaluations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Prior military pilot or FAA flight instructor certificate with Airplane Multi-Engine and Instrument-Airplane ratings.
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours of flight time.
  • Knowledge of DoD rules and regulations governing aircraft operations and the use of DoD forms and documents for aircraft instrument flight operations.
  • Graduate of a military instruction course, or equivalent, meeting Navy’s Instructor Training Course (A-012-0077) standard, as approved by the Government.
  • Working knowledge of each phase of Naval Air Training Command (NATRACOM) flight training and courseware curricula utilized in the Integrated ClassWare (ICW) classroom.
  • Working knowledge of administrator functions associated with courseware presentation programs outlined in the ICW/EC Training System Utilization Handbook.
  • Capable of inducting new students into the system, purging old students, generating performance reports, and fielding queries regarding student progress and performance.
  • Strong facilitation and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to participate in periodic aircraft familiarization flights.
  • Proficiency in emergency procedures.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
  • Ability to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.
  • Ability to calculate figures, amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Willingness to work any shift or day of the week as required.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a US Government security clearance.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication.

Security Responsibilities:

The incumbent must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures and is personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials. The incumbent will not divulge information or afford access to employees without a need-to-know or divulge information outside the company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company-provided resources. The incumbent must be eligible for a DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment:

This role operates in office, classroom, and simulator environments, utilizing standard office equipment. The work environment includes a complex military training setting with potential exposure to electrical shock, moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics, extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises. The incumbent must be able to stand up and conduct academic instruction, climb stairs and ladders, stoop, bend, crawl, and detect odors or noises to identify problems in the functioning of simulators.
