Second in Command (SIC) Pilot

This role is critical in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and compliance of flight operations conducted under FAR Part 91 and 135. The SIC acts as a key representative of the company, interacting directly with passengers and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
The Second in Command Pilot is primarily responsible for ensuring strict compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and foreign aviation regulations, as well as company policies and procedures detailed in the operations manual. This role serves as a prominent company representative to passengers, demanding exceptional professionalism while maintaining operational efficiency and safety.
Essential Job Functions:
- Serves as Second in Command (SIC) on assigned flights.
- Adheres strictly to flight schedules and operational directives governing aircraft operation.
- Conducts comprehensive preflight inspections of the aircraft.
- Thoroughly studies weather conditions for destination, en route, alternate airports, and departure points.
- Prepares or reviews detailed flight plans.
- Ensures the aircraft is meticulously maintained and provisioned for optimal passenger safety and comfort.
- Reviews and accurately calculates weight and balance, fuel burn, and aircraft performance data.
- Utilizes checklists in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborates effectively with the First Officer to ensure smooth and efficient flight operations.
- Coordinates the functions of all assigned crew members.
- Makes critical decisions regarding flight initiation, delays, cancellations, or deviations from planned routes based on prevailing operating conditions.
- Remains readily available to crew and departmental staff through company communication channels during duty hours.
- Works nonstandard schedules, including weekends and holidays, as required by operational demands.
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills, exceptional attention to detail, adaptability, and excellent follow-through capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Possesses a Multi-Engine Land Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- Holds a current First Class medical certificate.
- Demonstrates proficiency in radiotelephony communications.
- Ability to successfully pass required drug tests, TSA background screenings, and obtain necessary ID badge and ramp driving privileges.
- Holds a valid passport and driver’s license.
- Must reside within a two-hour personal commute time from the listed base. Consideration may be given for relocation.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma required. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Proficient in standard business software, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Minimum Pilot Requirements:
- Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours.
- Minimum of 150 hours of multi-engine time.
- Holds an ATP certificate or has successfully completed the ATP written examination.
