The Opportunity

Ascend Airways is seeking an accomplished and dedicated Manager, Cabin Crew Management to join its growing team. This pivotal full-time, permanent role is instrumental in leading, supervising, and optimising all aspects of cabin crew employment and welfare. The successful candidate will play a critical role in fostering a motivated and high-performing cabin crew team, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and contributing to the overall operational excellence of the airline.

Key Responsibilities

The Manager, Cabin Crew Management will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

  • Leading, supervising, and resolving all cabin crew management elements, encompassing company engagement, welfare, promotion, performance, and disciplinary matters.
  • Driving effective communication, motivation, and comprehensive care for all cabin crew personnel.
  • Collaborating strategically with the Human Resources Department to inform HR development initiatives and adapt to evolving Government employment regulations.
  • Partnering with the CEO, Nominated Person Flight Operations (NPFO), and Head of Cabin Services to accurately establish cabin crew resource requirements and set recruitment and promotion targets aligned with operational demands.
  • Working alongside the Head of Cabin Services and the HR team to meticulously manage cabin crew recruitment processes, ensuring the achievement of resource targets.
  • Continuously updating and refining the Cabin Crew Recruitment process to ensure adherence to best industry practices, and maintaining an accurate and current Cabin Crew Recruitment Manual.
  • Managing cabin crew employment terms, including contracts, scheduling, remuneration, and leave entitlements, in close consultation with the Head of Cabin Services, NPFO, and Head of HR.
  • Providing diligent oversight of leave allocation to ensure full compliance with CAA Working Time Regulation requirements.
  • Overseeing selection processes as required to meet specific operational mandates.
  • Ensuring that all cabin crew administrative documents, such as meeting and file notes, are meticulously kept up-to-date and comply with current employment policies and procedures.
  • Guaranteeing the provision and ongoing regulatory compliance of the Cabin Crew ‘Peer Support Program’ (PSP).
  • Managing cabin crew psychoactive substance testing in coordination with the Head of Flight Crew, ensuring strict adherence to both regulatory and company policies.
  • Undertaking other tasks as may be required and duly assigned by the Head of Cabin Services.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record and demonstrate the following essential experiences and attributes:

  • Extensive previous experience in cabin crew management within a dynamic aviation environment.
  • Prior experience in a Senior Cabin Crew position, offering an invaluable understanding of cabin crew roles and operational nuances.
  • Demonstrable expertise in handling performance management, disciplinary processes, and employee welfare matters effectively.
  • A proactive willingness to travel overseas and attend operational bases as dictated by business requirements.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, coupled with the ability to proficiently manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced operational setting.
