The Opportunity
Ascend Airways is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cabin Crew Training Instructor to join its dedicated Cabin Crew Training Team. This pivotal role involves delivering world-class training to the airline's crew members and external customers, ensuring the highest levels of safety, service excellence, and professional development.
Location and Travel
The primary base for this position is London Gatwick. However, the role requires flexibility for extensive travel within the UK and internationally to facilitate training delivery and support the dynamic ACMI business model. The successful candidate must be prepared to undertake flying duties as part of their roster, which may include operational flights, line checks, and cabin monitoring checks, alongside their training responsibilities. Working hours will be variable, with occasional weekend and bank holiday commitments aligned with flight crew rosters, for which days off in lieu will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
The Cabin Crew Training Instructor will be responsible for a diverse range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Delivering comprehensive ground school courses to both company Cabin Crew and pilots, as well as external customers.
- Conducting all training courses in a consistently professional and engaging manner.
- Utilising a variety of instructional methods to effectively cater to diverse learning styles.
- Contributing actively to the development and enhancement of training materials and resources.
- Mentoring and providing support to new crew members and instructors throughout their training and onboarding processes.
- Offering constructive and timely feedback to both Cabin Services and Training Management to foster continuous improvement.
- Ensuring the consistency and quality assurance of all delivered training content.
- Performing assigned duties and office days as directed by the Head of Cabin Crew Training.
- Identifying and implementing potential areas for improvement and innovation to maintain high standards of training delivery.
- Participating in departmental audits and reviews as required by the Head of Cabin Crew Training.
- Attending regular training team meetings to foster collaboration and alignment.
- Staying current with the latest industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Engaging in continuous professional development opportunities to enhance expertise.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in aviation training and a commitment to excellence. Essential requirements include:
- A minimum of two years' experience in training and assessment within a commercial airline setting (classroom-based).
- Possession of a 'Train the Trainer' or other recognised teaching and learning qualification.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering Safety and Emergency Procedures (SEP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Fire and Smoke, Wet Drills, and aircraft-specific training in both classroom and practical environments.
- A strong understanding of UK CAA regulations relevant to cabin crew operations and training.
- Extensive experience in delivering effective training to diverse groups of aviation professionals.
- Operational experience as an In-Charge Senior Cabin Crew Member (SCCM).
Highly Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Dangerous Goods qualification.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRMT) Certificate and delivery experience.
- Aviation Education and Training (AET) Level 3 or equivalent.
- Valid Cabin Instructor Number (CIN) and the ability to deliver UK Department for Transport (DfT) aviation security courses.
- Experience on Boeing 737NG and MAX aircraft types.
- Experience in conducting line checks and onboard compliance checks.
- Possession of a valid UK Cabin Crew Attestation (CCA) and UK Cabin Crew Medical.
Compensation and Benefits
Ascend Airways offers a competitive remuneration package for this role, with a basic salary of £33,000.
Expected total earnings are approximately £39,000, which includes an £80 daily training supplement and per diem for time spent away from base.
