Captain - Boeing 737 - London Gatwick

Ascend Airways, a newly established UK airline with a UK AOC and backed by Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider, is seeking experienced Captains to join its growing team. Ascend Airways will operate a modern fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft (NG and MAX) in the ACMI market, commencing operations from its London Gatwick base in early 2024. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a new airline's launch and benefit from significant career advancement potential. Captains will report directly to the Director of Flight Operations.

The position is based at London Gatwick and involves some night-stopping, with occasional longer periods (up to two weeks) away from base during the winter season. The flying pattern anticipates busy summer months, with quieter winter rosters allowing pilots to take additional time off to suit their lifestyles.

Required Experience and Attributes:

  • Unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
  • Class One medical certificate without restrictions (other than for spectacles/contact lenses).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to maintain a home address within 90 minutes travelling time of London Gatwick.

Captain Requirements:

  • Boeing 737 type rating, either current or expired by no more than two years.
  • A minimum of 3,000 hours total flight time.
  • A minimum of 500 hours in command of Boeing 737 aircraft.

UK ATPL and medical are preferred. Applications are welcomed from EASA ATPL Captains. Successful EASA candidates must convert to a UK license prior to joining, with Ascend Airways providing assistance in the license conversion process.

Ascend Airways offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary of £120,000 (revised April 2024), £13 flight pay, 6% of salary as a pension contribution, loss of license insurance, paid parking at base, and paid aviation medical examinations. Career progression opportunities are readily available. Full Time Captains are entitled to a maximum of 8 days leave between 1st June and 15th September, and a minimum of 10 days off per month. Holiday entitlement is 42 days per year, with ten days off per month, and three 'golden days' annually, guaranteeing a day off at base.

Full Time Captain - 20/10 Roster:

  • Commuting option offered within the EU.
  • Accommodation and per diem provided whilst on duty.
  • Flights paid in economy class on the first and last day of duty.

Holiday entitlement is 36 days per year, with ten days off per month, and two 'golden days'.
