Flight Attendant - Horizon Air

Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, is seeking dedicated and gracious individuals to serve as Flight Attendants. Operating regionally throughout the West, our flight attendants play a vital role in creating signature inflight experiences while maintaining an unwavering commitment to safety. This is a union-represented, full-time, frontline position.

Role Summary

As the face of the airline, the Flight Attendant serves as an authentic host. This position requires in-depth knowledge of inflight service duties and safety procedures, a positive and approachable demeanor, and the ability to maintain high operational standards while fostering an environment guests and employees love.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all safety regulations and verify that all aircraft safety equipment is functional.
  • Manage passenger interactions, including greetings, seating assistance, carry-on stowage, and cabin security.
  • Demonstrate the use of safety equipment and explain emergency procedures.
  • Prepare and serve meals and beverages, including alcoholic refreshments.
  • Market onboard products and process sales using mobile devices.
  • Resolve passenger situations professionally, including during medical emergencies.
  • Provide flight operations information and destination guidance.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of customer or community service experience.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Physical ability to perform all flight attendant duties, including meeting specific aircraft dimension requirements (e.g., jump seat, harness, aisle, and emergency exit clearance).
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States and the ability to fly unrestricted to Canada.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with technology.
  • Willingness to serve alcohol and travel extensively.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to relocate to any designated base: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Training and Policy Information

Candidates must be able to attend four weeks of paid training in Portland, OR. Employees are required to obtain and maintain an airport SIDA badge; failure to qualify or maintain this credential will result in termination. This role is subject to pre-employment drug testing in accordance with DOT regulations.

Grooming and Appearance Standards: Visible tattoos are prohibited on the face, front of neck, or chest. Tattoos on hands are limited to one, size of a quarter or smaller. Other tattoos must not exceed the size of a credit card and must be covered by a uniform piece or approved jewelry/watch.

Compensation and Benefits

The first-year step rate is $20.66 per hour, governed by the collective bargaining agreement. Total rewards include free stand-by travel privileges on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air, comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision), 401k matching, and annual bonus plans.
