Korean Language Qualified Flight Attendant
Hawaiian Airlines is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Korean Language Qualified Flight Attendant to join its esteemed ‘ohana. The Flight Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and comfort of guests, while embodying the spirit of Hawaiian hospitality. This position is based in Honolulu, Hawaii, with a recruitment event to be held locally.
The primary responsibility of the Flight Attendant is to ensure passenger safety aboard company aircraft. This includes the ability to perform safety procedures effectively and assist guests in emergency situations, all while maintaining a calm and reassuring demeanor. The Flight Attendant must thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to handle diverse personalities with attentiveness and courtesy.
In addition to safety responsibilities, the Flight Attendant provides exceptional customer service, delivering a consistent and prescribed level of care throughout the flight. This includes providing food and beverage service and creating an unsurpassed "Aloha" experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend preflight briefings to receive critical information regarding weather, routes, emergency procedures, and service details.
- Greet and direct guests to their assigned seats, addressing flight-related inquiries with warmth and professionalism.
- Assist guests with stowing carry-on luggage, ensuring a tidy and organized cabin environment.
- Demonstrate the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures prior to takeoff, ensuring passenger preparedness.
- Monitor the aisles to ensure compliance with safety regulations, addressing infractions and resolving challenging situations with diplomacy.
- Direct and assist guests during emergency procedures, including aircraft evacuation following an emergency landing.
- Provide consistent and efficient food and beverage service according to established procedures.
- Collect and reconcile payments for onboard products, such as alcoholic beverages and duty-free items.
- Administer first aid as needed, responding swiftly and effectively to medical situations.
- Prepare written and verbal reports of emergency or safety incidents that occur during flight.
- Prepare the aircraft and guests for landing, adhering to established protocols.
- Successfully complete annual FAA-approved re-certification training provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Maintain a current knowledge of emergency procedures in accordance with Hawaiian Airlines and FAA regulations.
- Adhere to alternative work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Interact effectively and professionally with colleagues and guests, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
- Deliver a never-ending aloha experience by responding promptly and pleasantly to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns.
- Identify and escalate potential issues, ensuring proactive problem-solving.
- Work effectively in diverse climates and locations across the globe, adapting to variable shifts.
- Perform duties at high altitudes.
- Meet all physical demands of the job, including assisting ill or incapacitated passengers, evacuating the aircraft in dense smoke, handling oxygen bottles and fire extinguishers, removing emergency cabin windows (weighing up to 60 pounds), and jumping down the emergency slide from a height of approximately 24.5 feet.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Presentation of a professional image, adhering to uniform guidelines regarding visible body art, piercings, and hair.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve challenging customer situations.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Advanced/business level Korean language proficiency, including the ability to read Korean characters (Hangul).
- Successful completion of an FAA-approved, unpaid eight-week intensive training program provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Ability to relocate within the state of Hawaii or the continental U.S.
- Availability to work alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to reach 82 inches vertically.
- Ability to sit in a cabin crew jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including drug testing, tuberculosis (TB) screening, and background check.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Possession of a valid passport and the ability to secure necessary visas for travel to countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Legal right to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Valid travel documents throughout all phases of training and employment.
- Ability to withstand varying climatic conditions, gravitational loads induced by turbulence, and cabin pressurization levels.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 17 hours), stooping, twisting, and manipulating cabin equipment.
- Current employees must be in good standing with the company.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of direct customer experience in the hospitality or airline industry.
- Four years of customer contact and customer service issue resolution experience in industries such as retail, education, health care, and/or professional services.
- College education or degree.
